unfortunately i will have to say no, i have not seen the kid drop a single pass all year that was remotely close to him. I think he is destoned to great things at this level and the next.

If he stays healthy and continue to progress like he his I doubt he'll stick around for another year. But that is a long way to go.

Not to be rude, but who cares? The kid is a freshman. If he plays lights out, then I will be glad to have had his production for three years.

We have a kid who is 4 TDs away from tieing a record set by the great Sterling Sharpe and I have seen this question posted more than any congrats for him. Focus on the positives and the next three years will be a lot more fun to watch. Let's worry about whether he is going to go pro AFTER his junior year.

A lot of things can happen between now and then. Let's just enjoy him while we can. One thing the pro's will look at was the same thing the D1 colleges looked at and that is he does not have the breakaway speed. He is a great leaper with soft hands and a knack for getting open. I am sure he will start seeing some double teams soon. Did you know that he was only offered 2 D1 scholarships? His time in the 40 was the issue.

Sidney Rice is a definite plus fot the Cocks; I was one of the few who were extolling his virtues before the season began, as he showed (me) flashes of brilliance before he was hurt last (pre?)season.

But he is not the receiver (yet?) that Sterling Sharpe or Robert Brooks were, even early on. I believe he'll have a 4-year career at USC, barring further injury. And he may indeed become one of our all-time receiving stars.

I remember my buddy at work named Roger last year (when Rice was a true freshman) could not stop talking about him. After hearing about him everyday for 3 months leading up to the season I finally told him "look, if you are looking to a kid that has never played a down of college ball to be some kinda superstar in his freshman year you are going to be seriously dissapointed." Guess he saw something in him that I didn't, by the way I wonder why Lou recruited such good wide recievers when he didn't like throwing the ball? Just something I always wondered about.

I mean no disrespect to him. He is a great athlete and I am so glad that he is on our team. I hope the best for him in the future. Just like I did for Troy last year, as much as I would like to have him stay one more year, he made the right decision for himself. Don't confuse me with a person that is not happy for him or thinks that he is unbelievable. It was just a simple question to ask.

As much as I love to watch S. Rice play, and love his athletic ability, I think it is a little soon to be making NFL plans if I were him. If he will stay, and let Spurrier and Spurrier Jr. coach him, he will become even better and could be a first round pick. Of course that depends on his health, etc.

Troy who?????????
That would be Williamson. Troy Williamson. He's the dood that won me a couple fantasy football games this year already, I'm not forgetting him just that easily. ;) I think Rice is off to an awesome start but a couple of those TDs did come late and against second team defenses, don't forget. I think as we become more competitive, so will the talent Sidney goes up against over the course of a game. It won't be until then that we truly know just how good this kid is going to be.

Pro talk is way early here but that kind of start is impressive, I don't care who ya are.

I think Rice will play his senior year because in 3 more years we will be a very competetive team in the SEC. He will know this offense backwards and forwards and will be a playmaker in basically every game. This year I expect to see more people double teaming him to try and lock him down. Even with the double team he can outjump basically any corner or safety in the league and has the hands to come down with the ball. He will still be double teamed though. However, over the next few years they wont be able to double team him like they can this year. We already brought in some great receivers this year and will continue to bring in more Im sure. Once this offense starts to sink in we will have many different types of threats in the receiver position. We'll have the speed, the quickeness, the height, the toughness, etc. In the future each receiver will have to be accounted for a lot more than they are now. That should help free up Rice and help him to keep putting up big numbers throughout his career.
