Kentucky driving down the field gets to our 14 yd line. LBs blitz, Lambert jumps the QB from behind, forces the fumble, and Lindsay jumps on it.....Gamecock football.

Sidney Rice with another TD catch....USC 24 - Kentucky 16.

If he can stay healthy, we're turning Sidney into a first round NFL draft pick in 3-4 years.

Sidney Rice is the best player we have. Six receptions, 106 yards & 2 TDs. Mitchell's having a good day too. Now let's finish the rest of this game like we should; slam the door on 'em in our house.

24-16 good guys with 5:35 left in 3rd quarter.

Sidney Rice is going to be the best WR in USC History. Watch. This guy is awesome. His stats are going to fly through the roofs, and break all receving records because he's under Spurrier's Offense. Troy Williamson is at the game, he thinking man if I stayed I would be the one grabing those passes, but he's having a good rookie season so its all good. Hopefully we can score a couple more TD's and our defense can hold'em (crossing fingers).

That's what I'm talking about. Our defense is getting after the QB and Hurley just scaked him. 4th down.

I've been listening to it over the internet. I believe it's a little of both. With Blake Mitchell back at QB, our offense sounded like it played pretty well. However, numerous KY turnovers didn't hurt either. KY was moving the ball pretty well in the game until they started turning the ball over.

At least 3 of their 5 fumbles were hardhit, forced fumbles so that's definitely a positive moving forward. We're 3-3 now. We've played like total crap most of the season, but we finally put together a solid half in the 2nd half of today's game. This has to boost the team's confidence a little bit, even if it is Kentucky. This is the perfect time for an off week, in my opinion. More confidence will hopefully mean better work ethic and smarter football being played the remainder of the season. If we can do that 6-5 is still possible....and that would be a huge victory for this team.

As I stated in two posts this week, the key to victory, given our porous run-D, would be to play aggressively on defense (as in the Troy game).

Even with the aggressive play defensively and the turnover margin, we could not have won without his 278 yards passing and 2 TD's.

Sidney Rice is going to be an awesome WR for us for the next couple of years. If our line inproves next year, watch out this guy could get 800+ yards receiving and 10+ TD's. I think he already has 6 or 7 TD's this year.

Just got back from the game and I have a few thoughts.

1. Really looking forward to starting the other half of our season and if we can get a little momentum going by beating Vandy then I am looking forward to going bowling.

2. Big #4 is gonna be a Superstar very soon.

3. As I watched Syvelle take it into the endzone the first thought that crossed my mind was Lou watching the game and telling his ESPN co-workers "I taught him that."

4. Something I noticed and really didn't like was that every tackle it seemed was made at least in part by Ko. You can't play coverage and defend the run at the same time.

Ko had a big day. 13 tackles, 1 fumble return for a touchdown, and an interception for 17 yards. Sidney Rice is the go to guy. The gamecocks played their best half of football. Since Kentucky had been outscoring their opponents in the second half, I was really concerned at halftime. I have but one question. Where were the students today? The North end zone was almost empty.

Hey Cocks congrats on the W today. Looking back the cocks so far are the only team that was even close to UGA this year. It appears that when your guys come to play they can play with anybody. Even with the talent gap issue you guys are facing this year.
Congrats again

Quote by Syvelle Newton in a Scott Hood piece on Gamecock Central:

"As I said before the season, it's not about me, it's about the team," Newton said. "That's been a problem around here for a little while. Everybody wanted to worry about what they were going to do for themselves. When coach came up to me and told me to move to quarterback and that they were going to let Carlos (Thomas) start at "Z," I didn't argue. I knew I was going to be behind Blake and that Carlos was going to start. It didn't really matter to me. Everybody can go out and make plays. If I have to take a backup role on the team and that's what coach wants me to do, that's what I'll do."

The constant drum beat by Spurrier regarding effort has sunk in with some of the players. At least it did for yesterday's game. I noticed Rice going down and stretching for every inch. He fought like he was in a Championship game. Same with Newton and Simpson. Syvelle playing all over the place, making tough catches, blocking, whatever. Could KO have been any more involved? The fun question at the end of the game for my crowd was, "who do you give the game ball to?" This is effort like we haven't seen so far this season. This is the leadership that Spurs has been looking for.

We came to play today. our defence played aggresively and with alot of heart the whole game wich really showed in the second half. the thing i noticed was when the crowd was the loudest the more energy our defence played with.

We could have used some of that emotion vs. Auburn.

We do when we play with EMOTION. There was little of that after Alabama's first drive and NONE at all vs. Auburn.

He has five in five games (didn't play in the opener). The record in a season is nine, set by Sharpe and tied twice. Still has five games left to play.

He's got 6 TD's already, so I think he gets the record for TD's this year, now as far as yardage, he won't get that record this year....

Isn't that the truth? I just love to see Mitchell complete those pretty throws. I was looking at the SEC stats yesterday and saw that he's third in the SEC. I expect him to move up even higher, especially with the way Vandy has been playing lately.
