SC fans everywhere listen, on this board where all bum and glum our football team is way below average where gonna get blown out by every decent team in the SEC maybe even Clemson :( (it's true they always have the upper hand) But we must stay valiant, look at the positives!!!! Basketball for instance, Florida has lost all of there players, UT has a new coach, Vandy is Vandy, UGA is rebuilding, and we beat UK at home last year. We return our entire team minus Powell with a couple of solid recruits, we have a good shot of finishing second in the east and making the NCAA's this year!!!!! In baseball we have again brought in the #1 recruiting class and have the best baseball coach in America in Ray Tanner, once we get our new stadium we will be a dynasty for years to come. And finally you know Spurrier will recruit well and we will soon compete for the East. So look on the bright side SC fans because our future is bright!!!!! ;)

I've been a gamecock fan too long to get upset or scared this early.
It's going to take some time.
At this point, with Spurrier here, I have no choice but to wait.

In Carlos Powell we only lost the heart and soul of our basketball team. He was the best player by far last year. Led the team in nearly every category. We cant shoot the damn ball. We don't have many big guys in the middle either. If we can get Balkman and Tisby to step up in the middle we will be in good shape there. Our shooting is horrible. But I will agree about Baseball. We have a great shot at getting to Omaha this year. Hopefully instead of just going there we will win the National Title, maybe this year or next.

I love SC baseball and basketball, but I'd rather have a kick butt football team and just just average in the other two. I am proud of us in that department, because if we didn't have them, we would be a complete embarassement to the southeast

I agree, and I'm trying to be patient, but it's hard. We are a better team than what we are showing right now. I am tired of saying maybe next year, or wait till next year. Once again, I know it will take time, and I will be a Gamecock fan till the end, but this team is really hard to watch right now. As a person who played athletics all my youth life, it does not seem like they care sometimes. That is what I don't understand.

I have to agree that this wait till next year crap got old a long time ago. On the other hand there is no other coach in the county that I would rather have running this program than SOS. He is clean and recruits very well. Baseball is great and to be honest, even though i live for football in the fall (hypotheticly speaking of course), i might give up my season football tickets before i give up my season baseball tickets. we just need to make sure that we do whatever we can to keep Coach Tanner here.
All that being said, and as depressed as I was Saturday, I will still be at the game Saturday screaming as ususal, and ticked that our fans refuse to stand up when we are on defense and scream. I have faith that we will look better Saturday, but it would really be hard to look worse.

You must sit in the club level(aka Old folks section!)If you want to have a full-game experience stand on those walkways right behind the band and student section, loud as hell, everybody's yellin and its a great view you see every part of the field. I dont even sit in my seat anymore.

I'm sorry, but I'd have to vote the game viewing experience in our student section as the worst ever. First of all, I would gladly pay a few thousand dollars to be able to puch the guy on the mic in the face just once. Not to mention take over his duty as a DJ. Play something halfway decent for the love of God, or better yet, don't play anything at all. We have a band, correct? Secondly, the whole "stand up the entire game" thing is absolutely pointless. What, are we trying to prove that we, as students, use absolutely no logic whatsoever. "Hey, I've got this perfectly good seat here, but instead of using it to rest comfortably until I have a reason to stand, I think I'll use it to raise my line of sight a few feet for no apparent reason. So, fear not fellow students, all this means for you is that there will be one less person in line for his student tickets. I have to decline that offer, and will gladly pay $30 for a halfway decent college football experience. I guess this means I'm just getting older........correction, wiser.

Man, you have no idea how much I hope they don't. My stomach is entirely in knots right now. Not only are my Gamecocks the 2nd worst team in the SEC, I now have to worry about the freakin' Astros doing EXACTLY what they did last year. I was the biggest Phillies fan around last week. I love college football and all, but Baseball is MY SPORT, and the Bravos are MY TEAM. What am I scared of?: Pettitte, Clemens, Lidge, and our pitching staff beyond Hudson and Smoltz. What gives me confidence?: the Astros can't hit for sh*t, and our big guns are coming off of a week of rest(hopefully this will prove to be a blessing and not a curse). Do I think the Braves have a shot at winning the World Series? Absolutely not. But, do they have a decent shot at actually MAKING it? Without a doubt. GOOD GOD I LOVE ME SOME OCTOBER. And Oh yeah, THE YANKEES ARE THE ANTI-CHRIST.

I agree we are a better team talentwise than we are showing. But they give up too easily. In the Auburn game, they gave up immediately; they played with absolutely NO emotion, at all. I knew they were going to be badly beaten by their obvious lethargic mode of play from the outset.
I will say this: with Blake Mitchell in there we are a mediocre but possibly dangerous team...without him, we are totally pathetic! :(

I think Hefner can be a much better QB then he showed. As good as Mitchell, no. But far better then vs. Auburn. I say play Hefner vs. Kentucky and let Mitchell heal because we are going to need him vs. UT, UF, Ark, and Clemson. Heck we might need him vs. Vandy.

We still have a lot of football left this year. To say "wait for basketball or baseball" is ridiculous.
This team is learning and growing. We still have the opportunity to do some special things this year.
