Some try to pass it off as PG-13 but that's a farce.
PG-13:"Parents Strongly Cautioned. Some Material May Be Inappropriate For DJShockey(sorry dude...couldn't resist that one)
A PG-13 post is one which, in the view of the moderators, leaps beyond the boundaries of the PG rating in theme, violence, nudity, sensuality, language, or other contents, but does not quite fit within the restricted R category.
Any drug use content will initially require at least a PG-13 rating.
well maybe there is some of that going on here ;)
In effect, the PG-13 cautions parents with more stringency than usual to give special attention to this forum before they allow their 12-year olds and younger to view.
I have yet to see anything inappropriate here for children of any age lol
SEC Talk is rated G:"General Audiences-All Ages Admitted."
This is a forum which contains nothing in theme, language, nudity and sex, violence, etc. which would, in the view of the moderators, be offensive to parents whose younger children view the forum.
Some snippets of language may go beyond polite conversation but they are common everyday expressions. No stronger words are present in G-rated posts. The violence is at a minimum. Nudity and sex scenes are not present.
Come on guys....13 year olds hear much worse at school. It floors me that you won't even allow the "s" word here.
Think we can loosen the chains just a little?

It just gets old having to back up and edit your post to make it past the censors.
I'm not advocating lude behaviour. I just think the censorship here is a bit too extreme.

Yes, I do my best to keep the profanity out of my sports talk. Granted, first halves like the Vols/LSU game tests my will to do so.

I don't go out of my way to use profanity here either but like you say....sometimes you'd like to speak your mind and express yourself without having to worry about offending the 3yr olds. If the moderators intention is to keep it PG-13, then I don't see any problem with a few bombs sprinkled in here and there during the heat of battle.

My thoughts...
there's not EXTENSIVE use of fowl language (i.e. Rated R), but there is some (i.e. PG-13) and we let it go. There have been posts deleted which literally contained about 30 cuss words in 3 sentences, which I completely agree with that being deleted. Neo posts the Babe of the Day polls several times a week, which contain some scantily clad women that are easily PG-13 but have enough "coverings" that its not Rated R material.
I really don't understand what the problem is here? Are you afraid of being banned from the site for a single "bad word" showing up in a post every now and then? If so, don't be... all of us have been guilty of that every now and then, just like in a "PG-13" movie. If you loosen the chains to allow all language without moderation for it, then you open things up to all the people who feel it appropriate to use 10 cuss words per sentence. While I personally don't have a problem with bad language, it adds absolutely nothing to a conversation to use it that extensively... and offends plenty of people at the same time.
If you want to talk dirty 24/7 every other word of your posts, there's plenty of places on the net you can do that.... and you'll find that most of them have a lot of hostility and flaming going on constantly. This site was created with the intention to allow a place for FRIENDLY and INTELLIGENT sports conversation, and that's what its going to remain to be. One of the reasons I feel like this site hasn't grown faster than it has is due to the amount of immaturity around here. I have personally heard adults say that they do not plan to post here due to the amount of people who are being immature and ruining intelligent conversation with idiotic comments/arguments. In my opinion, if you also allow people to start making offensive/dirty/whatever comments to each other at will, then you're just adding fuel to the fire that is keeping respectable sports fans from wanting to be a member here. I still dream that this place will actually take off one of these days, and become a place of intelligent conversation... but if you allow it to turn into a site full of flame-posts full of bad language, then intelligent conversation is far from what you'll get.

I think all the South Carolina fans are committing illegal TOS acts with all their "fowl" language. Ban them! :D

Screamer....
I occasionally go to a Trojan Board that is so filled with expletives and trash talk that football seldom gets discussed. I'll have to say that here (and at Rebelfaithful) while I have to be a bit more thoughtful about my posts, it the pay off is that more of the conversation here is intelligent and thoughtful. even most of the personal attacks that occur are reasonably low-key and easy to shrug off.

Maybe it hasn't taken off yet because your treating the members like children in church is another way to look at it.
I think you've got enough moderators here to keep it under control. I brought it up only because I said sh-t one time and immediately got flogged for it.
The pics in the babe of the day are no more racy than what you see at the grocery store checkout. I've seen much more skin in PG-13 flicks. Not here for the babes so no matter but that seems to be your only argument that this site is PG-13.
Some very good commentary going on here just disapointing to see such extreme language censorship.

Since this pertains to the BOTD, that's my jurisdiction and I feel that I need to reply.
The difference between SECTalk.com's BOTD and your "Grocery Store" Magazines is that we do NOT have any nudity in our pics. See, we cannot truly and personally verify the age of each and every member that joins SECTalk.com. At least a grocery/gas station clerk can see firsthand who's attempting to buy the Playboy Magazine and if they are of legal age.
See, by doing a BOTD, we have to be really careful because of pornography laws that vary from state to state. That's why I agreed to the "No Nudity" clause when I agreed to do/manage the BOTD section.
I hope this cleared up some of your questions. Thanks and if you have any other questions, ask away.... :)
