I read somewhere his reasoning for picking 'Cuse was basically that he thought of them as pretty equal opportunities for himself....but he felt if he came to USC that the whole town would be expecting him to be the savior of USC basketball with all the focus going to him.

I can completely understand that line of thinking....cause if he's half as decent as people say, he's absolutely right that people would expect way too much out of him early on here at USC compared to at Syracuse.
