Does anyone think that Fulmer will admit he made a mistake by naming Ainge as his starter? Prior to the game, he talked like Ainge would get to play the entire game without having to worry about Clausen taking his place. Ainge was supposed to be THE QB. Then, after the game, he acted like Rick was his best buddy. I find it hard to believe that Ainge was injured; seemed like a copout to me in order to get Clausen in the game. Clause certainly proved himself tonight though.

I can't figure it out either, but it sure give Carolina a better shot at Clausen's younger brother. The only thing that I can figure out is that Fulmer is trying to prepare for the future.

Someone said in the other thread that Fulmer had a hard-on for Ainge. I bet you that son-of-a-gun could cut diamonds with the one he has for Rick now.

You guys don't know the rumor?
Fulmer hates Clausen because supposedly Clausen had sex with Fulmer's daughter. You know, the overweight girl always running behind Fulmer after the game. I'd do her !! LOL
Ainge is going through the sophomore slump. Futhermore, I can't believe LSU gave up that lead. Was it a breakdown or just resilience on Tenn. part?

Fulmer admitted on the post-game radio show that Clausan was mad at him all week. He also admitted to making a mistake by underestimating Rick and over-valuing Erik. I think his words were something like "I'm a big-boy, I can admit it when I was wrong".

I truly understand Fulmer's reasoning for wanting Ainge to have the starting job, but let's face it....Ainge can not handle the pressure of the Big Game situation. He had no business being in the Florida game in the 4th quarter and was TOTALLY rattled tonight. Let's be straight, though. Neither guy is getting any help from his teammates. The Vols handed the game to Florida with dumb mistakes, and then tonight, 14 penalties and 6 dropped passes did not help. The Vols could have Peyton back at quarterback, but with the multitude of mistakes and no consistent running game, he would struggle as well. Clausen should definitely be the starter, but IMO, that's simply the "tip of the iceberg" when talking about the Vols' offensive problems!!

True. But, the Vols sure do play better with Clausen at the helm.

Ainge is a GOOD QB and that is about it right now. I agree he is having a bad second year and his team mates are not helping but I feel that they respond better to Clausen he is more of a leader right now. He proved that last year as well. IMHO they should have Clausen starting and Erik learning the game a little more and then he could come in later in the games when it is over with to get some snaps in. Then he would be the starter next year.

OK I am really sorry, but EA sucked all kinds of bad last night.........those of you who know me, know that I don't usually talk about my team with anything less than total support, but this time, this time I could smack someone in the back of the head. EA cannot handle pressure, look at the Auburn game last year. EA has the big head, thinkin because Saint Peyton said he (EA) was going to be the best QB to come out of Tennessee, he no longer has to apply himself....so instead he hands the ball to whatever team isn't wearing orange

Funny, but isn't that what lsu did to the Vols? Credit UT. They took advantage of the opportunity. Phil did a good job of keeping his players into the game. Can't say the same for Miles.

Hopefully Clausen rides out as our QB....Ainge isn't a smart qb yet, let him play in the 4th quarter in the games in which are out of reach to garner some more experience.
I'm still pissed at the amateur play Ainge pulled to avoid the safety....that was just stupid.
Also it wouldn't surprise me that the reason Ainge has been getting the nod over Clausen is due to his uncle Danny having some pull of some sort. If Ainge winds up starting another game this season over a healthy Clausen...then I'm most certain it's due to his uncle buying a starting spot for Erik. Clausen may not have the arm strength of Ainge...but he's a much more intelligent QB at this stage of their careers and with Clausen at the helm, our offense will move the ball. That can't be said with Ainge at the helm.
