you're right. Someone will ride it out in front of the team just like the Indianapolis Rebels and the New York Rebels. Oh wait, those are the Colts and the Jets. The bike does not dictate what the mascot is.

I don't recall Khayat wanting the motorcycle guy. Atleast the last time I talked to him, he gave no indication of it.

You're right, he has done quite a bit for Ole Miss. But it has been for the school, not from it. However, being involved in the Cutcliffe firing makes him, in my opinion, either Moe, Larry, or Curley.

In defense of Spiro though, that's Khayat's job. His job as the AD is to ensure a winning program or at least decently competitive. If he's not cutting the mustard in that department, then he needs to step down as AD and take another position within the university.

The fact of the matter is Mr. Khayat was involved in the biggest blunder in the history of Ole Miss. Academic or Athletic. He should have used his authority to stop "Moe Boone" in his tracks. David Cutcliffe was a man of high standards and would not compromise his integrity to the level of "Moe Boone's". Which in this particular instance was as low as one human being could treat another. Cutlcliffe should have been given another year to turn things around. I believe he could have gotten the job done. Mr. Khayat should have ordered "Moe Boone" to give Cutcliffe another year. He didn't. Afterall, " Moe Boone " is a Ole Miss man, Cutcliffe isn't. Moe's got to be right. Right ? So now what do we have happening in the Ole Miss football program ? We have a high priced cheerleader who thinks he is a coach and a football program that has hit rock bottom and is starting all over again. Another rebuilding affair. The whole thing stinks. And I can't wait for the day when Boone and Khayat are held accountable for their actions in this inexplicable act. And Orgeron is on HW 6 heading out of town for good. Until this day has come Ole Miss Football will be nothing more than new episodes of The Three Stooges every gameday during football season. Moe, Larry, and Curley starring in another episode of "The O'Zone." What a laugh.

Call your family members. They should be able to tell you.
You don't know me Rebel. You don't know who I know. Would you be surprised if I told you that I have family employed by the athletic departments at both USC and OM?
....
Just wait and see....
Neo, I often agree with your posts, but I am stumped as to why you take such delight in fanning any and all flames surrounding posts about Ole Miss. Were your student days at USCar so boring that you became obsessed with Ole Miss?
Even though I take routine potshots at Miss State, I generally hope for the best for their program and pull for them all but three days a year. (One football and two basketball...I don't follow the baseball season closely enough to count it.) I also expect them to do the same...that is, make fun of us, but cheer us on when we are not on the field together.
While I have, for the most part, put up sort of a cognitive filter for your posts about Ole Miss, I remain curious about the behavior. I also find that because we all identify in this community as fans of one team or another, responses to a members behavior are often transmitted not only to the team, but the other fans. So, I occasionally struggle to remember that Cocky4 or Beedsie or USCar did not actually pre-read or approve your posts.
I am sometimes (often?) given to intolerance and I can be somewhat (quite?) demeaning. I do not always regret these behaviors and find such lapses to be configurators of what I deem to be normal behavior. For instance, I recently got into a pi$$ing match with USC66 who was simply minding his own beeswax, until i decided to harass him. Not my proudest moment, but something that happens to us all from time to time if we have opinions.
So, I am not suggesting that you cease you rather hackneyed attacked on Ole Miss, I just wanted you to know that it does not go unnoticed and it may not be having the effect you desire...whatever the heck that is.

The biggest blunder in the history of the school would be listening to your foolish self and firing Khayat. Like it or not, the university exists for students to get an education and get themselves ready for their futures, not to be your play toy on the football field. Therefore, athletics always will and always should be secondary to academics. Firing Cutcliffe is not and will never be the biggest blunder in the school's history and is one of the most ludicrous thoughts I have ever heard. It's right up there with the "Robert Lane is the greatest football player ever" rhetoric I heard morons spouting after he led Ole Miss to a win against a Miss State team that Oxford High could have beaten.

I speak the truth. You die hards don't won't to hear the truth. And the truth is the firing of Cutcliffe was one of the biggest blunders in the history of Ole Miss ATHLETICS. There, ATHLETICS not academics. And to Cianne or whatever your name is, I realize full well what the purpose of a university is. You don't have to tell me. I am an educated person. But I also know that football is very important too. So if you, or all who oppose me on this issue want to discuss academics instead of athletics, which I thought this message board was all about, then I suggest you find such a forum and get off this one. Orgeron, Khayat, and Boone. The Three Stooges. The O'zone. What a laugh !

In all honesty, where do you think universities/colleges get the money for upgrades, new buildings, etc, etc?
Believe it or not, these athletic departments contribute more money to their respective institutions then you would believe. The point of college is for education, but don't knock one of the main revenue makers for these institutions.

That's an easy answer, Neo. Federal grants and private fund raising.

It's not that simple Cianne. For instance, usually the biggest donors are ex athletes or high ranking allumni.
The feds don't give institutions as much money as they used to. Now it's up to the states and the schools themselves to raise money.
There's no way you're gonna convince me that athletic depts don't contribute MORE than their fair share to a university.

Ole Miss makes very little money off the football games compared to other schools coming in at at little under $9 million per season in revenue. Both you and I know that most if not all of that money as well as a good bit of the loyalty foundation money goes to footing the bills for the other sports thanks to both Title IX legislation and the fact that sports like baseball and basketball tend not to break even at many schools.
You're also right about a lot of money coming from ex-athletes (although the only time I can remember an ex-athlete giving any sort of money to Ole Miss was the $1 million gift for the IPF from Deuce) and high ranking alumni. However at Ole Miss, a lot of the high ranking alumni's money went to paying Senor Cutcliffe's severance package and going to things such as the Croft Institute and the McDonnell-Barksdale Honors College.
Oh and the next time you see 75,000 show up in VHS, I'll show you a flying camel.

Yea, we're in agreement. I'm just saying athletics fuel athletics and pretty much athletics only. They have to feed off of themselves due to crap sports like Women's Rifle and Cross Country that nobody cares to go watch.
I met Morgan Freeman this summer up there. Apparently Dave Chappelle's cousin is a drama professor on campus so he brings in some big actors from time to time to talk. And no, Samuel L. Jackson does not always scream like the sketch shows. He was fairly quiet coffee on the Square.

Actually, my youngest runs x-country and I thought it would be a big yawner. However, most of the courses sort of fold back in on themselves so you get three or four vantage points during the race. My son is the only sophmore on varsity and runs the 3.3 mile home course in 18 minutes...give or take 15 seconds. Last year, his personal best was 18:39, this year it has been 17:54. The fastest Senior is running the home course in 16:20 and tells me that he has has cut a little better than two minutes off of his freshman times.
When its your kid, its pretty exciting, but if he weren't running they would have to give them guns or sticks or something to get me to watch.

I'll bet you were one of those people that no one could stand to be around. So, who do you think will win the game this Saturday. It will be Ole Miss' last chance for a victory this season you know. It's got to be a lot of pressure on Orgeron and the rest of his competent staff.....you know, knowing that it's their last chance for a win this year. But I'll tell you what, I'm going to go out on a limb here and go against my better judgment and pick the Rebels to beat The Citadel. Then they'll coast the rest of the year losing their remaining games. 2-9. What do think ? Oh, and don't even think about Ole Miss beating Kentucky or Mississippi State. It won't happen.
