It's headed for Houston. I understand that they plan to reopen the Superdome to use it as an evacuation shelter for all of the folks that are staying the Astrodome.

The only thing Rita wants is directions to the Bush Ranch

Man that is just crazy. Those poor people are truely in hell. I've hazed the bama fans enough for one day so I'll let someone else rip the inconsiderate bammer above.

Screamer,

He's not a Bama fan. His signature is the payoff from the bet.

It's okay. Even if Rita gets to Crawford, the vacation is over.

No, the evacuees are headed for the STAPLES CENTER where each of them will be ministered to by these lasses:

The damage that Katrina did to the chemical industry was bad enough & we were just starting to feel the real ripple effect of that in terms of price increases and product scarcity....and now this? Check out this link, it shows all the crude oil and natural gas platforms in the Gulf of Mexico and the path Katrina took through them and New Orleans. Notice the concentration of them where they have Rita going....

There's going to be a lot of SUV's parked in lawns with FOR SALE signs written on them this winter....

Yes, they are in Hell, and I wouldn't pay to be in their shoes. Having been through Hugo way back when, I know what they are going through.

As for my rips on Bush, being an incompetent boob (him) on top, with a bunch of incompetent nipples (his aides and agency heads) under him, he is more than deserving of every condescending remark made about him.

I'm not gonna be like some and play a race card, but you can bet your arse that if Katrina had destroyed Texas, he wouldn't have been faking guitar riffs in Cali ;) Watch how fast the clean-up is in Texas

I will say that the devastation in the Big Easy is like none seen before and can be overwhelming to comprehend, however, once the shock has subsided, it's time for action, and a good leader does not lead from the rear.

While I am being so insensitive to those in TX, LA, et. al, lest I forget my brothers in arms across the water who are devastated a different way EVERYDAY (to which the great Dubya still has no plan for how he will get them out of that hell-hole)

New Orleans has either a choice of a slow death of rain and wind of the outer rings of rita and flooding again , Or the high pressure system moves east and it gets wiped off teh face of the map

it's now the 3rd or 4th most powerful hurricane ever (as far as our records are concerned).
