From what I am hearing about Spurrier's post game quotes. They should be up soon. I am told he torched Holtz and said if this team was any good Lou would not have left. Also sounds like he has lost trust in Mitchell. Some on other sites are saying he almost sounded like he wanted to quit. I will keep ya posted. :(

OMG
This can't be right.
I don't see Spurrier giving up after one bad game. He knew that South Carolina would be a work in progress....
This is just Doom and Gloom talk that should be ignored.

the way that team played, I don't fu*king blame him, pardon my english. They gave up on that game half way through teh second quarter. I didn't even have to watch teh second half..the body language enough was the telling tale, not to mention the fact that they allowed 7 yards a carry every time AU needed it.
From the first snap on, we got our asses kicked. We rolled over. That may have been the worst I've ever seen a gamecock football team play. Unbiased, we looked positively high schoolish out there almost all game long! Maybe reality is finally settling home & all those off-season suspensions/dismissals are really that important. I was hoping they wouldn't be.
what a disappointment

This is from Spurrier's post game conference. From his mouth is what I am being told. Several people on my paid site think he may leave. He speaks his mind. Don't sugar coat anything. This is very disturbing to me. I will let everyone know what he said as soon as they post it. :(

Not gonna happen. He's too proud to give up. What did he expect? The cupboard was bare when he arrived. It's gonna take a few years to get this rolling and I think he knows this. You can't make something out of nothing. If he quit on this team his legacy would be that of a quitter and I don't think SOS is a quitter. Gamecock fans just need to chill out and be patient. Just give it time....

Well said Beeds. If he sounded dejected during his post-game conference, I wouldn't be surprised. In fact, I would expect it. Heck, I was dejected and I'm just a fan. He had to stand on the sidelines and watch that pathetic showing of so-called SC football. He couldn't swear and step away from the TV for a few minutes like I did (although I'm sure he did a little swearing). I'm with you......He wouldn't even consider calling it quits because of one poor showing, knowing he needs a couple of years to get his team in place. He's smarter than that.

If they dont make that D-Line better they will be Spurrier wont stand for that pathetic performance. And Spurrier wont quit thats a given he's just really frustrated and dejected because the team quit in the second half, his UF teams never quit.

You have to be able to run the ball and stop the run. USC is not doing particularly well at either. The rush yardage differential was embarassing today. Spurrier's best offenses could always line up and beat you with the run if they had to.

Ok. I just heard the audio, and it is bad, but not as bad as it first sounded. He is very frustrated and angry. He said he cannot motivate Blake, and wish he were not so laid back. He said they would look at the entire program this week, to see where to go from here. He said the standup crap the defense uses may cease. Also said there would be some position tryouts this week. Very angry about not being able to run, and not being able to stop the run and get the other offense off the field.

Well THANK GOD we may have seen the end of that standup defense crap. From the looks of things we probably need some position tryouts this week. Plus I dont care how highly he was recruited, keep Carlos Thomas out of the game until he can consistently hold on to the ball. I would imagine the team is gonna have a ROUGH week, as they should. It looked like Bama was playing the SC School For The Deaf and Blind

This is just a thought but I can't help but to think that after the very emotional loss to the Dawgs last week, maybe USC was emotional drained. I believe they wanted to be up for this game they just were not.
Spurrier is a jackass but he is the best coach in the SEC. i can't imagine him leaving without putting at least 3 years in.

South Carolina is in all honest not a very good team. But they have heart and that is how they will play this year. But when you don't have the talent (way to go studdering Lou) and you don't bring your heart you are going to get embaressed by a team that you are considered almost equal with.

Nah, I think these guys will have something going once we get some recruits in. I was listening to the radio during the game and they were talking about how small our DLine was and how big the Bama OLine was. They said that our guys couldn't see over or between those guys to know where the ball was that is why they couldn't stop anything (not to mention trying to tackle people with one hand). By the way, for those of you who were there, is it just me or is there an entirely different feel down there now. I mean for some reason even during "2001" the energy just didn't seem to be at the same level anymore, meaning I didn't even get the chills or goosebumps like last year.
Spurrier isn't going anywhere. Frankly he's just PO'd at the situation right now. The defense was supposed to be our biggest asset this year and except for the secondary, they haven't done sh*&!
I'm expecting the resignations of Thompson and Nix by the end of the year if things don't change and you can bet your bottom dollar that we may see Cade Thompson in the QB mix.
As for the rest, he's just blowing off some steam. I mean let's face it. We're fans and we could easily just change the channel. Not him. He had to stand there and watch that pathetic play. I don't know what these boys want to accomplish, but if they wanna win at anything, they better get it in gear QUICK.
Just my 0.02.

Neo my main man, I hope Nix and Thompson get something worked out soon. After 2 games of being there I am absolutely sick of everyone sitting around me screaming for Charlie Strong to come back. They are starting to sound like Clempsun fans.

I agree. He was pi##ed at the entire game. He is mad at Blake, he is mad as heck at the defense, he said the stand up crap may not be seen anymore. His team quit, and he knows it. He said the entire program will be reevaluated this week, and some tryouts for positions may take place. Very tough to see SOS like that after the game.

I totally agree. We had a viewing party in Knoxville with the Bama fans in this area. They couldn't believe that Spurrier hired Thompson to begin with. Our defense is a mess.

Yeah, I think a lot of people were surprised when he was hired. If I remember correctly, some people on here were even saying we may live to regret that. Looks like the case to me. Carolina is usually very proud of their defense. This is pathetic.

Something on Defense had to have been changed this year, because it seems we have always had at least some type of Defense, so far the only decent Defense i've seen was against Georgia, and we still lost.

Yep.
Spurrier is starting over with position re-positioning and Thompson will start getting more attention in practice next week. If he can show anything at all, Spurrier will try him to see if he can step up. Our O-Line needs help but Mitchell simply collapsed mentally. He's a good athlete and still through some completions, but we've got to get a leader on the field. Mitchell isn't there yet and may not have that kind of take-charge ability ever. Spurrier suggested early in Spring practice that Mitchell may not be mentally tough enough to handle it. Not in those exact words but that was his concern.

If we don't hit 6-5 this year, then it's not the end of the world. That was our goal not our guarantee.
I think alot of people, including some of the players, hoped there was a magic set of plays that turns 2nd and 3rd string quality players into champions. I know I did and that's part of why I feel so let down. Yesterday showed that's not going to happen.
Recruits like the idea of getting to play right away probably as much as anything else. We'll get better recruits under Spurrier and he'll build this program to where we'll all be proud. This isn't his team. This is a team designed for a completely different offensive approach and he's trying to bend them into players that will fit his scheme. It's hard enough to win when you have all your people in place, much less when you have no one and lost most of the play makers that might give you a chance. I'm confident we'll compete in the coming years but I'm just going to have to be patient. Go Cocks!!

I agree, it's just such a bitter pill to swallow. There was no spring in their step or anything. That defense needs to be totally revamped. Blitz every down if you have to
The defense keeps playing like that and Nix/Thompson will be gone by the end of the year, Spur will be coaching O&D  First time I have ever seen a dejected look on Simpson's face.
Could just be me, but your secondary should not have the most tackles on the team. Turn em loose and let'em play. Use a 4-3 or something that will get to the QB. Maybe they do need to check on what Strong used against UT to keep Donuts boys in check.
Maybe instead of Gatorade, they need to mix in some testosterone powder to maintain testicular fortitude for four quarters of football

Spurrier Jr. is an excellent WR coach, and we do have some decent guys. I just think the philosophy of the Def. Coord. is not going to work in the SEC.
