We're due to just take it to a team, especially one with an injury-prone quarterback. They force turnovers just when they need them and make "need-a-stop" stops whenever they damn well please. Between the 20's, your fine; after that, you're MINE.

TREND:
USC of the east has been run on at will by each of the three opponents they've faced. Their passing defense has been suspect at best and they rely on opposing quarterbacks to miss rather than making a play on the ball to make stops. They do a good job of jumping on loose balls but that is mainly a result of their tendency to put the ball on the ground themselves.

As for the game, Bama handed our butts to us BIG time. There's no "ands" "ifs" or "buts" about it. Bama clearly wanted that game more and they clearly showed it. I'm not afraid to admit when I'm wrong. For instance, last year I thought ATM was gonna put a whoopin on UT. Well, after the game, I admitted I was wrong. No big deal. :cool:

That being said, ATTENTION ALL BAMA FANS, we have got to live in the REAL world. I am all about making the people who have bragged about USC eat crow, however we have to look at a few facts here.

1. Spurrier is a new coach at USC. He still has some wrinkles to iron out. Is anyone forgetting Shula's first full year?

2. We have to play USC again in 2009. By then where are we gonna be? Spurrier will be at the top of the SEC, like he was at Florida, and starting in 2009 he will be handing us our ass for several years to come.

Call me a sellout, a fairweather fan, or whatever you want to say, I just don't see through those crimson colored glasses that most people see through. This WAS NOT a signature win for Shula, it was a small baby step on the way to greatness! Nobody can ever predict how a team will play. Who knows, USC or Alabama could play So. Cal tomorrow and hand them their ass, despite losing or winning yesterday. We all need to stay in the real world and remember, you can't be 100% all the time!

Everybody acts like this is such a HUGE win, and oh how wonderful it is. I'm just pointing out the fact that Shula pointed out, the win against USC IS NOT a signature win, it's a small step towards where we need to be as ALABAMA! This team will prove itself when they beat TN, FL, LSU or Auburn. USC is a nobody win. I'm grateful and very happy for the win, but you can't start celebrating when you've still got the biggest games of the year to come! At least the players have their heads on their shoulders and even they say it's just a baby step. I talked to Brodie and Ken Darby after the game last night and even they say this is a good win but it's not the win that we need to prove ourself! When you have your team players saying this, then you know you have a team who knows who the big games are and who the small games are! And Spurrier will be at the top of the SEC regardless of where he is. Hell anything can happen, look at Vandy! I'm glad Bama is getting back on track, but it's still too early to be getting cocky and arrogant. That's what gets you beat in the big games!
