Spurlock is looking sharp early. He's got a good arm.

DeAngelo Who? Coach O really game-planned well for him. He looks very underwhelming against an SEC defense...

Bullet dodged... Ole Miss wins 10-6. One wonders what would have happened if Memphis' QB didn't get a broken ankle on the first series of the game...

Ole Miss you need a kicker. And isn't the memphis defense supposed to be horrible?

Not just a kicker. They have quite possibly the worst punter in the SEC...

Congrats to the Rebs. Spurlock had flashes of brilliance; sort of reminded me of the way D.J. Shockley used to be. Orgeron showed he can get them ready, run a good defense, and coach good football. Good for the Rebs.

Yeah, I think with a little more development, that Spurlock will do quite well for Ole Miss. I still don't see them doing very well this season though. But I've been known to be wrong before. :)

......Allburnt will contend with Mistake for last place? I mean we did win tonight. My $$$ on Tubby's crew to settle on that bottom rung.
Thank god for Willis & Pack! The O will improve, but the D will carry the Rebs this year. :D
GO REBELS!

umm We told yall this was going to be the case .. as we graduated 2 4 year starters ... All SEC punter and a lou groza award winner.
and our offense struggled becasue of the new interior of O-line ... remember all three of them play on sundays now . only one Oline starter had a start under his belt ...
and thier back up Qb was very good he impressed me .. he made plays and his passes looked sharper thant the other guy ( course he only threw one )

I know, looks like I won't have to change anything this week, but I don't think it will be long. :)

Moseley reminds me of Steve Lindsey if any of the other Ole Miss fans remember him. The kid has a huge leg as seen by putting the kickoff out the back of the endzone from the 30 at the start of the second half (fyi, he has put a ball halfway up the endzone stands on a kickoff at VHS). Unfortunately, his field goal abilities are awful.
I was sitting on the 10 yard line way up so I didn't see how bad Hinkle pushed his second FG attempt right so if anyone can enlighten me how bad it was, that would be much appreciated.
We signed two big kickers out of Tennessee to come in and try out for the starting job this fall but things didn't go over well. Park punted like garbage, and Sparks got a leg injury before fall camp.
As for punting, Moseley did have a big 52 yard punt that shows he can do it but the rest were just god awful. Believe it or not, I think Spurlock might be the best punter on the team as well as the best defensive back and best QB. He averaged in the high 40s during HS with Indianola, as well as nailing a 61 yard field goal against Murrah.

I said cuss words in front of my sons that they saw they have never heard before. I swear I could have done as well myself. Hell, you could probably have done as well from your seat.
It was, my friend, very very bad.

Ok, now compare it to Moseley's try. I think he was just trying to hit the tiger cage on purpose....

both teams played like crap but memphis did have to play a quarterback who only knew one third of the playbook. why he only knew 1/3 of the playbook is beyond me.

take the game any way you wish. to begin with, a w is a w. next, whether either team is good or not has yet to be determined cause neither o-line was that good. Last, due that I didn't notice it mentioned in this thread, Hotty Toddy!!!!!!
