Seems like everything is President Bush's fault. One day after Katrina hammered the Gulf Coast, German commentators are laying into the US for its stubborn attitude to global warming and Kyoto.

Katrina Should be A Lesson To US on Global Warming (http://service.spiegel.de/cache/international/0,1518,372179,00.html)

sad but true, global warming is a major issue now. while it's not necessarily all Bush's fault, we never really acknowledge there was a problem.

maybe it's because i'm a masters student in biology and this stuff has been pounded in my head -_-

Im not saying that global warming is all our fault, or that there is some magical way to reverse the effects of it, but we dont even try. Plus, global warming does make it more likely for hurricanes to occur.

As more fresh water is poured into the ocean from melting ice caps the ocean currents all over the globe slow down. When that happens the storms that come off the coast of Africa dont get torn apart by the currents, and are more likely to make it to the the waters over here with power. Then as they strengthen while approaching our coast the underwater currents over here are moving slower so they are less likely to break up these storms. Look at how fast Katrina strengthened when she hit the gulf. Its like there was nothing to slow her down at all and she just took in all that power and slammed into the gulf coast. I expect hurricane seasons to get worse and worse.
