Here's DandyDon's report after the hurricane:
Hurricane Katrina has left a trail of destruction behind that will take several weeks for the people of New Orleans, the lower lying parishes of Louisiana and the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and Alabama to recover from. The City of New Orleans was hit hard, but things would have been much worse had the storm gone 40 more miles inland before taking a turn to the North. The City of New Orleans would have been wiped off the map had the storm not turned when it did. It will be days or weeks before the 1.1 million people in New Orleans and the low lying parishes are allowed to return home. My prayers and best of luck wishes are with all the families affected by the storm. I sure hope that there will not be another major hurricanes this year, but I am afraid there could be in the next six weeks.

As for LSU football news, I received tons of email Monday from fans wanting to know if the LSU-UNT game will be played Saturday and I am 99 percent certain that it will. I made a few phone calls yesterday and I was told that there was no damage to Tiger Stadium and that the game should be played as scheduled. Baton Rouge did get a couple of inches of rain, but all the grass parking lots needed the rain and soaked the water up in a hurry. As for the traffic flow, I believe that all highways will be open going to Baton Rouge from the North and West and most likely the traffic from the lower parishes, Mississippi and Alabama will be allowed to travel West. I hope that you Tiger fans who evacuated New Orleans and other low lying areas for higher ground brought your football tickets with you in case you are not allowed to return home before Saturday.

The LSU football team did not practice Monday because of the storm but will practice today. They most likely will practice in shorts with shoulder pads and head gear. I believe that the hard part of Fall practice is over for the players and I am sure the team is ready to hit someone other than their teammates.

I am expecting Coach Miles to name his starting quarterback by Wednesday, or no later than Thursday. The competition is very close, but I believe JaMarcus Russell will be the starter.

I am very excited about the start of the season and I believe LSU has a great chance at being a great team this season. The key for LSU having a great season will be how well the starting quarterback performs. The Tigers are a very solid team on offense and defense with the only question mark being at quarterback and the linebacker position. LSU will have an 8-3 or 9-2 record even without great play from the quarterback position, but the team will have to have two or three great performances from the quarterback to go undefeated. In my opinion, teams like Tennessee, Florida and Auburn will be able to shut down LSU's running game if LSU's passing game is not affective.

I believe the Arizona State game will tell us a lot about what kind of season the team will have. In my opinion, if LSU loses or struggles against ASU the team will lose two to three games. On the other hand, I think that if LSU beats ASU convincingly the Tigers could have a great season. Arizona State is going to come into Tiger Stadium sky high and fired up to beat the Tigers. They would like nothing better than to beat LSU.

While on the subject of LSU football, I want to remind all Tiger fans that the game against North Texas will not be televised on Tigervision or any other network that I know of. I do not know the reason for not televising the game on Tigervision.
