OFFENSE --

C: Joe Cope, 6-0, 276, Jr. -- Surprising walk-on from Andalusia is likely to get the job but returner Steven Ross is quickly returning back to full health.

-- RG: Tim Duckworth, 6-3, 326, Jr. -- Converted nose guard spent 2004 learning the line at offensive tackle, but will start this year at guard.

-- LG: Ben Grubbs, 6-3, 302, Jr. -- Found his niche at guard and started every game in 2004 after previously working as a tight end and defensive tackle.

-- RT: Troy Reddick, 6-5, 335, Sr. -- Veteran has started 29 games in his career and will likely join teammate McNeill on Sundays next year.

-- LT: Marcus McNeill, 6-9, 337, Sr. -- One of the top lineman in the nation. A verteran leader who will be a major factor in Auburns success this season.

-- TE: Cooper Wallace, 6-4, 265, Sr. -- Durable tight end caught a career-high 19 passes for 302 yards last season.

-- QB: Brandon Cox, 6-2, 202, So. -- Last year's backup. Knows the system well and looked very sharp in preseason camp.

-- RB: Tre Smith, 5-10, 199, Jr. -- Bulked up and ready to pick up where he left off against Bama in 2002. Kenny Irons and Carl Stewart also figure to see plenty of carries.

-- FB: Jake Slaughter, 6-2, 241, Sr. -- He'll almost never carry the ball, but is an excellent blocker.

-- WR: Devin Aromashodu, 6-2, 202, Sr. -- Led the team with a 21.4 yard average per catch in 2004.

-- WR: Courtney Taylor, 6-2, 204, Jr. -- After leading the team in receptions and yardage last year, Taylor is poised for national attention in 2005.

-- PK: John Vaughn, 6-1, 201, Jr. -- Ultra-reliable Vaughn made 12 of 15 field goals last year.

DEFENSE --

NG: Tommy Jackson, 6-1, 305, Sr. -- Opelika native was all-SEC first-team member last year.

-- DT: Wayne Dickens, 6-1, 303, Sr. -- Much-maligned senior finally gets chance to live up to the promise he demonstrated as a youngster.

-- DE: Stanley McClover, 6-3, 257, Jr. -- Tied for team lead in sacks last year, ready to step up and demonstrate run-stopping ability equal to his pass rush this year.

-- DE: Quentin Groves, 6-3, 255, So. -- Fast and furious. Shared team lead in sacks with McClover last year.

-- OLB: Kevin Sears, 6-4, 247, Jr. -- He's one of three returning starters among the linebackers. His brother Arron is a star offensive lineman at Tennessee.

-- MLB: Travis Williams, 6-1, 207, Sr. -- Williams is unquestioned leader of the defense, and probably the team as a whole.

-- OLB: Antarrious Williams, 5-11, 206, Sr. -- Speedy hard-hitter should be good as new after missing the end of 2004 with a wrist injury.

-- CB: Montae Pitts, 6-3, 206, Jr. -- If Pitts holds onto his job, it will be just the latest example of the embattled Pitts defying the odds.

-- CB: David Irons, 6-1, 189, Sr. -- Brother of AU RB Kenny Irons. Primed and ready to assume the role vacated by Carlos Rogers last year.

-- FS: Eric Brock, 6-1, 212, So. -- Coaches like his size, speed and ability.

-- SS: Will Herring, 6-3, 215, Jr. -- Opelika native has started 24 games in his two years.

-- P: Kody Bliss, 5-11, 177, Jr. -- Could be the best punter in the SEC now that Dustin Colquitt is gone from Tennessee.
