Senior QB Rick Clausen was sharp again in last night's final scrimmage. Phil Fulmer decided to lighten up on his squad by making the affair non-contact. Clausen saw it as a chance to club the sophomore on his way to the starting job. "Rick certainly seems in control right now, and Erik seems to be pressing a bit out there", Fulmer was quoted as saying after the contest. Ainge's first pass, intended for Bret Smith was intercepted by Roshaun Fellows. The two quarterbacks rotated every four plays regardless of down or distance, and Fulmer said that he is comfortable playing both. A decision on who starts the opener against UAB will be made later this week.
