2. Bo Pelini (LSU)

The arrival of this defensive guru in Baton Rouge is another big reason to believe that the Tigers are a legitimate national title contender.

A former NFL coach, Pelini has worked magic with less talent in his career. In his only season at Nebraska in 2003, he directed a defense that tied a school record by creating 47 turnovers and gave up the second-fewest points in the nation. Last season at Oklahoma, he worked as a co-defensive coordinator and the Sooners allowed just 94 rushing yards a game, the sixth-best total in the nation.

Expect similar results to follow with the Tigers. Pelini's attacking style should mesh well with his new personnel, and he has one of the most talented defenses in the country to work with.

I still don't think Pelini is all he's cracked up to be, but you know that Geaux :p Stoops ran that defense at Oklahoma and Nebraksa's wasn't really that good at all while Pelini was there.

Agreed. And how many times is Geaux going to post the same banal, uninformed bio about Bo Peep? He keeps pasting columns by other writers, which talk about his "great defenses" at OU and Nebrasska, and I keep responding by posting Pellini's record and the TRUTH about his weak schemes and what he's done since arriving in the NCAA. I respect Rivals, but the analysis on Bo is pretty superficial, looking at the end product rather than the process. If Chris Leak threw 100 TD passes in D-1AA, that doesn't say much about HIM; it only speaks to the talent against which he played. It's not enough to quote "47 turnovers" at Nebrasska. How did he get them? Who did he play? What was the process?

It doesn't take a "football guru" to call a cover-2 press when you're up 20+ against Kansas at home. Guess what....you're gonna get some turnovers. I think some of these writers don't investigate anything.....they think: OU went to the title game, and Nebrasska's last decent season was 2003....well, then, this Pellini guy is a really great DC. They don't really look at the games or how, exactly, a 9-3 season was established. It's misleading information written by columnists who are too lazy to do the research.

Sorry to say, you're not fooling anyone, Geaux! I know you're trying to convince yourself more than any of us, but Bo Peep isn't the answer at l-essU. You guys deserved better....and who knows, it could be l-ess Miles' first major HCing blunder.

little suprised borges didn't make the list for OCI absolutely agree, autiger. Borges is outstanding and largely responsible for AU's success on offense and the turnaround of Jason Campbell last year.
:)

Agreed.Gateaux, it is not necessary to revert to your diatribe of sameness about BoPeep each time outstanding football minds view his accomplishments and talk of his potential to reach even newer heights with the really good athletes he has now. As Col. Nathan R. Jessep said in A Few Good Men, "we would prefer that you just said 'Thank You' and get the hell out of the way."
:D

jking man... we love you Gators and hope that you find your way out of the Zook-infested slump in the swump!
