That's pretty damn impressive that these guys combined to loose over 130 pounds since the spring. It looks like they're taking Herrings "need for speed" philosophy to heart. For those that don't know what I'm talking about, see today's ADG. Keith Jackson Jr. was the biggest loser, dropping nearly 40 pounds. He needed to. So it looks like it'll be Simms and Harrison, and Mitchell, Jackson and Anthony Brown will compete for the other two spots. I think we'd be fine with Simms, Harrison, Mitchell and Jackson, but apparently Brown (WR convert) can explode off the line and obviously, he's got the best speed of the bunch and that's what Reggie likes. I like our Dline this year. IT's young, but very talented. Reggie Herring and Tracy Rocker apparently like it too and as two former All-American defensive standouts, they probably know what they're talking about.

If the players can give Herring the speed he needs he will give them the plays they need to win games. At NC State Amato and Herring always put a big emphasis on the D-Line. If the Ark. line keeps making this kind of progress towards the types of things Herring wants in a defense it should be greatly improved this year.

yeah, did our d-backs gain 130 IQ points or are they still dumb as dirt?

I've said it a hundred times and I'm just gonna keep saying it, I can't wait to see us go back to a really aggressive defense! This newfound speed upfront will be a big part of that.
Personally, seeing our defense attack this year is what I'm looking forward to the most.

I'm pretty anxious to see the D too. I'm so ready to see Simms and Brown at the DE spots.
While our DBs were horrible last year - as was every other portion of the defense including our DC - 5 of the 6 regulars at CB and S were starting for the first year and most of those if not all had no prior experience. They're all back, so I look for the secondary to be the most improved position on the entire team. They were literally "throw into the fire" last year and it killed us. I think this year we'll see some benefits from that b/c there won't be a single guy, except for maybe Thorton and another frsoh, that hasn't played before in the SEC against the likes of Jason Campbell, David Greene, Chris Leak, etc...
Oh yeah, what do ya'll think about McFadden's possible move to safety? I dunno, why recruit a parade all-american HB and then move him to S. But, I've heard he has unbelievable skills there, so whatever. That may mean that Felix Jones and Michael Smith have really impressed them. I heard Jones has been awesome in practice so far.

As long as they're moving mcfadden because of his potential at safety, I'll be happy. I can't imagine they would just say we have too much depth at RB let's move someone. After all, this is the sec and we are a run first team.

McFaddan isn't going to play safety, he said that when he was recruited that Nutt told him he would be a tailback, and I can't see him eating those words... If McFaddan chooses to go to safety, I think it would benifit us, because we could always use another great CB or Safety to help Vaugn and Coe out.
