The good news is that once again, ESPN is hating on our chances of being a contender in the SEC and nationally. The last time the dogs were getting this much flack was in 2002 and we know what happened that year.

The bad news is.... what the hell is going on with our players. Bar fighting, cheating on exams, beating up teachers, getting drunk and waking up in a girl's apartment. This is not the behavior that should a football player from the UGA should exemplify. I swear, some of these A-holes don't realize what they have and that some of us (including myself) would give our left nut to have what they do. That's just my opinion. Also, we lost starting fullback Des Williams for the year with a pectoral muscle tear. I don't know our backup fullbacks name, but he's no Des Williams by no means. I just know he is an average sized white kid. Just a setback in UGA's extremely powerful running game for the fall.

Go Dawgs!!

His name is Brannan Southerland. Get used to that name. The kid is a player.

He is no Des Williams? Slow down there. Des was not even our starter last year. Let the kid get a chance to prove himself.

Average sized white kid? He is one of the strongest kids on the entire team. He squatted freakin 650 pounds.

sounds a lot like James Banks off season program.

and while all of us are mulling over this offseason and the rash of injuries/arrests it has (much to our own chagrin) brought just be thankful youre not an FSU fan. They lost three first team all-conference players from their defense.

As for Brannan Southerland, thats one big freakin' dude. Can't wait to watch Kev Simon put him in the dirt (giggle giggle)

Sorry silver...... to me he's average. I'm a pretty big dude. Hell, I had a class with Danny Ware and i think he is small. I hope Southerland is all that and more, but I didn't see much of him in the red and black game. However, I did see Des lay some people on their ass last year and that is what we need from Southerland now that Des is out.

You are a big guy then, for Southerland is 6'/235, Ware 6-1/216 according to the most recent stats. S&C numbers are supposed to be out next week in advance of Fall Practice. Southerland was the #3 FB in the Nation according to Rivals and is tremendously strong. We'll miss Des for sure, hard not to when he goes another 25 lbs. heavier and has proven himself in battle.

As for the offseason of woe that us Dawgs along with the UT & SC fans have endured, I'd think you have the 3 fanbases most ready for hostilities to break out.

Guys, don't take what I said personally. I not knocking Southerland, I've just never seen him play. No doubt, he's an athlete, a schlorship player, a Georgia Bulldog, he's a good football player, I do agree with you all.

As for my size Colonel, I'm a very stout 6'4 285lb guy. Played football in high school, was a hell of a O lineman, and tore my ACL my senior year. UGA was salivating when I was a junior. I had offers from South Carolina, Colorado, Indiana, and Air Force, while Georgia was courting me and number one on my list. However, I tore up my knee three games into my senior year and I was done. Oh well, I still get to go to school there. I have pondered walking on, but I feel I am too old and out of shape for the likes of today's athlete. I'm now 22 and classified as a sophomore at UGA.

Here's a photo of me at picture day of my senior year in high school.

Your a huge guy Dawg.

Those were the days Shock!! I'd give anything to put on pads one more time. Just think, if it were meant to be, I might have been up there this year with Max-Jean Gilles and Dennis Roland. It makes me sick thinking about it.

I am glad to see Hart County Bulldogs de-emphasizing the orange and making black their dominant color not to mention the orange looks almost red now. Good solid dawg fans in that area. I know Elbert County changed their logo on their helmet to look like the squash Georgia G and Greenwood, SC already uses the squashed G:)

I think you should consider walking on. We need some o-linemen bad, especially tackles.

That is what position I played the most. However, I like playing center the best. But my senior year I played tackle and and that's why I tore my ACL. Pass pro blocking on those bull rushes to the outside are hell on a big guys knees like mine. I was kick sliding to get back on an outside stunt rush from a really fast LB and on about the third kick slide back, WHAMO! I went down in tremendous pain and didn't know what was going on, I had never been hurt before. Not to mention, my QB got obiliterated.

I don't know if my knee would hold up if I walked on. I have been working out since I left my football days and I am just as strong as some of those fellas, but not in any playing shape. I would have to put some serious rebuilding rehab into my knee to tests its limitations and I don't know if I want to do that. Anyway, thanks for the notion though.

Any of you dawg fans remember an offensive lineman named Mike Fellows? He played from 1989-1993? That's my brother. He was bigger than I ever dreamed of being. He was 6'5 310lbs. He makes me look small to this day.

Well I'll be damned! I remember him and that's so cool in so many ways. Only you can decide whether or not you'd like to give it another go, heck just because it wouldn't cost you anything but your time, why don't you make some inquiries?

If you still love the game, and it appears that you do, when you've made your mind up about any comeback, see if you can get into coaching, the pay is nothing to sneeze at.

Glad to have you here Dawg@Heart, you bring an on campus perspective to the festivities and that is a welcome addition indeed.

Thanks for the support Colonel. I have made inquiries about walking on and I found out some things that I didn't like seeing. In my case, it would be extremely difficult to walk on not only because I have torn my ACL severly, but also, I found out that any player on schlorship is not allowed to work and make money. Unfornately, I have bills to pay that only I can pay. My parents and siblings wouldn't be able to pay my bills while I was playing. Don't get me wrong, I have definetly thought about it and I don't care if I start one game, as long as I got to put on those silver britches and that red jersey and walk in the footsteps of my brother and so many other Dawgs before and to feel the electricity of the stadium as you hear the Battle Hymn being played while in the locker room. I get chills thinking about it.

Some of you are saying right now, walk-ons are allowed to have jobs and they are, but I wouldn't be a walk-on long :)

Anyway, it's definetly there and I might still do it. Hell, next year would be prime, especially since we will be losing a few OL after this year. Thanks for the support fellas.
