Many Bama fans are proving that Hope Springs Eternal when they are predicting winning the SEC West with...
a head coach who has NEVER had a winning season.
a starting QB with a 7 - 9 record as a starter.
Yep, Hope Springs Eternal in Tusk-a-loser!

Many LSU fans are predicting a National Championship with:
1. A coach that has never won a conference or divisonal championship.
2. A qb that cannot read defenses and has the accuracy of a scud missile.
Yep, just more yada yada from lswho

All I hope for is Bama to come into the Tennessee Game with a 5-1 record or Better. If this happens, then it makes the game, more than likely a elimination game for the SECCG.

Florida will likely beat them (as you've predicted, I think), but they are going to have tough games with South Carolina and Ole Miss, too, IMO. South Carolina's defense may very well put the hurt on Croyle and Darby, causing them to limp into the Arkansas and Florida games where they could become even more beleagured before facing Ole Miss, who could then put a whipping on them. The prognosis for the Tide is not great.

Two things...
1) Shouldn't this thread have been posted in the SEC Trash Talk forum, as it was obviously just a jab at Bama fans?
2) I can understand you saying this about Darby, as his injury is one that has the potential to be aggravated again. But Croyle has just had a run of bad luck on his side more than anything. His injuries have both been average football injuries, with many other players going through the same thing at some point in their college (or pro or even high-school for that matter) careers. He's recovered just fine now, and should be set to go for the season. It could happen to any team, and has happened to plenty of teams. We'll have more depth (although inexperienced) this year than we had last year, so we'll at least have SOMEONE to put in if they were to go down again.
It's going to be a fun year at least. :)

I think you're right Jordan, it most definitely is going to be a fun year; this site will make the upcoming season the best (for me at least) since I left the University of South Carolina. It's going to be fun comparing notes, talkin' smack, saying "I told you so", eating crow, analyzing games down to the play (I can visualize it happening already), etc etc. with everyone here. I just wish I could see more SEC games than I do...
NFL training camp starts in a handful of days....that should be just the appetizer I need to get me through to the start of Carolina's football season. :D

If you have Time Warner Digital Cable you can order their ESPN Gameplan. It brings you over 100 college football games and is WELL worth the money.

Out of all the SEC teams that face Florida this year, Bama looks to have the most complete defense that the Gators will face. The game is in Alabama, so there are plenty of reasons to think that the Tide can give the Gators all they want and a little more.

I've got Cox as well now, but haven't been here for a football season yet. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing $19/wk or $119/season. I'm not planning on getting it, as most of the important Bama games will be televised up here anyhow. I'm sure I'd catch some more good games with it, but just can't justify $120 this year. Maybe next year. :)

Florida also will be sporting a stout defense and it will be difficult for Bama to produce a lot of offense, especially if Croyle and Darby have suffered physical difficulties in earlier games. Bama's D will be put to the test in stopping the Gator's pretty well-rounded offense. Leak is very good. They have excellent receivers. If they find a running back somewhere half as good as Ciatric Fason was, watch out. I will be very impressed if Bama can pull off a win against the Gators.

Thanks, Jordan. I'm going to check it out. Like you, I think most of our away games will be televised, so that shouldn't be a problem. (I plan to be in Tiger Stadium for all of the home games!) But there will surely be some good games that I'd like to watch or record for later viewing, so that may justify the cost. Got to check with the boss, though. Ha-Ha

I think it's doable, but regardless of the outcome it will be a very low-scoring game. Both of our defenses are going to really be stacked this year, and we will have the slight advantage on that side of the ball. Especially considering our pass defense is rated one of the top in the nation, we'll hopefully keep that long-ball UF will likely be using as a weapon most of the season from putting points on the board against us.
But flip us to the other side of the ball, and UF will have a pretty good run defense... which will obviously be our offensive strength this year. So they ought to shut down our run fairly well. We'll be forced to go to the air more often in that game. Croyle has the accuracy for it, but I'm still worried about our WRs making the completions on the other end of the pass.
I think we'll see a lot of 3-and-outs for both teams in that game, which will make any amount of offensive productivity (especially FGs) extra important in the outcome of the game. Can't wait to see what happens. :)

Yeah it would definitely make good use of the Cox DVR service, but then my cable bills would add up to about $1500 for the year. :p

Lets wait and see how stout the Gators defense is before proclaiming them big and bad. It seems as if the Urban Hype machine is working for the Gators defense right now. It would probably be fair to say whoever wins the match-up between the Gators D and the Bama O will probably win the game.
Also, when I said Bama is the most complete D that Florida will face this year, no disrespect was meant for your Tigers. I think LSU ranks as the #2 defensive unit the Gators will face and that is more like 1A and 1B. Tennessee's D should be very good, but I have a hard time putting them up at the top, until the secondary shows they can cover somebody.

I'll tell you one thing, if Bama beats the Gators, DisturbinUrban will have a huge blackmark against him right away. That would be fine with me!

But that quote disregarded the rest of my post....
Are you thinking it's going to be a blowout by UF? Or remain a "battle of defenses"? You imply that Bama has absolutely no chance against UF, but you haven't backed it up with any reasoning. How do you think they'll stack up on each side of the ball?

No, no, not discounting Bama at all. Their defense will be the strongest, especially in the areas where the Gator's offense will be keying; passes. The Gators don't have a proven RB at all, so I doubt their run game will be a factor, especially against the Tide's stellar defense. If Bama is able to construct a good offensive line to go with their other offensive weapons, they could be hard for the Gators to stop. And that, of course, has a lot to do with Croyle and Darby, as we've all alluded to many times. My point was that DisturbinUrban would be in trouble because the Gator fans may accept a loss to LSU or Tennessee, but not much more. In reality, I think several teams have a good shot at beating the Gators, especially if DisturbinUrban is all hype. Other teams that could beat them besides Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee are Georgia and South Carolina. Georgia needs no explanation, but I think Darth Visor will have something special for the Gators when they visit Columbia. I think he wants to beat the Gators as much as Bama wants to beat Phat Phil.
