Kinda a weird poll. Auburn is overranked. LSU is underranked. Florida should be in the Top 25 just based on talent. Tennessee is probaby right where it should be. Georgia probably where they should be. Alabama isn't in the top 38 :D Oh this is going to lend to some funny topics over on Bamamag and here.

Well that pretty much slammed the door shut on our national title hopes..tough to move up 38 spots :D

And Auburn got their cookie they wanted from last year in their "We didn't go because we started so low" whine. They'll finish around 12 or so and be done with it.

I personally don't think Georgia or Auburn will end up in the top 10. I do believe Tenn. will however.

That poll is very odd. I didn't know they released it this early. Sure looks a lot like last years.

After really looking it over, I'm not so sure that this is the real product. Now polls which use the prior year's results as a starting point aren't rare at all and that would appear what this one is.

I'll keep an eye out as I now more believe that Yahoo! just made (updated) the page in advance of the actual product.

My apologies for jumping the gun. :(

If UT's schedule was easier I'd agree with you, but they could already have two losses before October gets here (LSU and UF).

No problem!! That poll does look kinda odd, though. :D

With the talent Tenn has, if they don't contend for the NC this year Fulmer should be terminated.

That is the final poll from last season not the preseason poll...

With the talent Tenn has, if they don't contend for the NC this year Fulmer should be terminated.

I don't agree with that. with the talent at LSU, UF, UGA and UA, UT could drop 2 games easy. To expect a contention for the NC this early would be to set yourslef up for disappointment real quick.

That's a little too strong!!
First, the schedule is brutal!! With road games at FL, LSU, AL, and ND, 3 wins would be extremely successful for any program. You can't forget the home games with GA and SC. A 9-2 record would not be disapointing.
Secondly, the "talent" that you speak of is largely unproven. It looks great on paper, but that doesn't mean cr@p until it performs as a unit on the field. Alot of national prognasticators are putting alot of stock in that unproven talent and are setiing a VERY high bar for the Vols this season.
The talent is there to contend for a NT, but considering the lack of "proven talent" and the tough schedule, to fall short of that goal is more than likely.
Any talk of Fulmer's job being in jeopardy if the Vols don't contend for that NT is simply rediculous. JMO!!!

Thank God....because if UF wasn't even in the top-25, I was going to shave my head and move to the mountains.

I havent seen Auburn or Georgia that high in any of the polls I have looked at. I dont really see how they can both be so high...oh well, if we have any players left on defense that dont get expelled and an AD that doesnt sleep with everything that walks we may be able to back that ranking up...after today's news though, thats a big IF.

Ahem...

Folks....

This should be a lesson to all of you. Please go back and re-read all of the messages I have posted about pre-season poll, all-star teams, etc.

The good Colonel has inadvertantly done you all a favor.
