DL Greg Billinger from Parkview High School in Lilburn just committed to the Dawgs.

Hey Silver, can you give a breakdown on the newest commit. Should he be a full qualifier? Is he an extremely quick DE or more of an over-powering player? How man DE's will UGA look for in this class and is this guy considered one of the best available?

Thanks for the info and congrats to the bulldogs on their freshest commit.

Alright, I will try my best.

Greg Billinger is not highly touted. He will probably debut as a 3 star according to Rivals. I honestly don't know about his academic standing. I don't think I have ever heard of a Parkview kid not qualifying. He is about 6'3" 260. He ran a 4.9 forty at Georgia's camp so he is quick. He has the option of either playing DE or DT. He would have to add some weight to be a DT, but he has the frame in order to do so. His offer list isn't all that impressive. However, he was offered by Georgia right after he performed at Georgia's elite senior camp. If our coaches offered him right after the camp, that tells me all I need to know about his abilities.

As for our DL recruiting, I expect us to sign about 8 for the entire DL. We are extremely thin at DL. Our class will be made up of mostly OL and DL.

Thanks for the congrats. We are just trying to keep up with that amazing class that the Vols signed last year. ;)

In case you were wondering, Parkview is one of the top programs in the state of GA. In fact, they were in SI's top 25 sports high schools in the whole country.

He can't be bad if he's starting on Parkview's team. They've historically had a GREAT team and have dominated the state of Georgia and much of the Southeast. I watched them play some when I was living in Atlanta and they look much better than any other high school team that I've ever seen.

Billinger is going to most likely be urged to move to C, as OLC Callaway prefers a quick, smart guy at the position but we shall see.

As for his academics, they are not of any concern whatsoever. He had offers from Duke, Ole Miss, Vandy, VT, Auburn, and the nats.

It is always good to get a commitment from a player that isn't going to be an academic problem. That is even more important now that the new grading procedure has been dropped on the colleges by the NCAA. (Not sure if grading procedure is the right phrase but the correct one has seemed to slip my mind!)

Speaking of great high school football teams. Hoover(AL) vs Nease (FL) will be on ESPN on the last Saturday of August I believe. Rush Propst (Hoover) may be the best High School coach in the country.

He was recruited by Georgia as a DL.

Richt has recruited very well at Georgia so far. I just hope we can get the program up like never before.
