Auburn will be LSU's sixth opponent of the season. As you know, Auburn finished the 2004 season 13-0 and ranked second in the nation behind USC. There are many college football fans who believe that Auburn should have had the right to play for the national title last year because of going 8-0 in SEC play, and I am one of those who believe Auburn was a better team than Oklahoma and should have played USC for the title. Auburn was so dominating last season that they only played two close games the entire season. Auburn defeated LSU 10-9 and Virginia Tech 16-13 in the Sugar Bowl.

Tommy Tubberville has a record of 51-24 in six years at Auburn and 76-44 in 10 years at Ole Miss and Auburn. Tubberville went 3-2 against LSU while he was the head coach at Ole Miss and has 3-2 record against LSU at Auburn. Auburn will have six returning starters on offense and six returning starters on defense. They are expected to be very strong on defense with all three starting linebackers returning. Most SEC experts believe that Auburn's three starting linebackers, Kevin Spears (6’4”, 245), Travis Williams (6’1”, 210) and Antarrious Williams (5’11”, 210) are the best group of linebackers in the SEC on the same team. Nose tackle Tommy Jackson (6’2”, 310) is Auburn's only returning defensive lineman. Montavvis Pitts (6’3”, 205) returns at cornerback and Will Herring (6’4”, 215) returns at free safety. Tony Bell (6’2”, 215, SO) and Kevin Hobbs are expected to be the other two starting defensive backs. Auburn's biggest loss on defense was Carlos Rogers who was a thorn in LSU's side for three years.

On offense, Auburn returns six starters but will have to replace three first round draft picks in quarterback Jason Campbell and running backs Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown. Brandon Cox (6’2”, 205, SO) will be Jason Campbell's replacement at quarterback. Cox is a very accurate passer on short- to medium-range passes, but does not have the arm that Campbell had on the deep pass routes. Cox has better foot speed than Campbell and will be a threat to run the ball. Tre Smith (5’10”, 202, JR) will start at running back and will be backed up by Kenny Irons (5’11”, 205, JR) who is a transfer from South Carolina. Smith and Irons are no where close to being in the same class as Williams and Brown, but they both run 4.4 forties and will be very dangerous in open field. Auburn's strong suit on offense will be at wide receiver and at tight end. Courtney Taylor, Devin Aromashodu and Ben Obomanu are all three in the 6’2”, 200 range and have great speed. Cooper Wallace (6’4”, 265) is one of the top TEs in the SEC.

When Auburn rolls into Tiger stadium on October 22, they will most likely be undefeated with wins over GA Tech, Mississippi State, Ball State, Western Kentucky, South Carolina and Arkansas. If so, they'll have a 19-game winning streak over the last year and a half. Tommy Tubberville and several of his players upset many Tiger fans a few years ago by smoking cigars at midfield after a win over the Tigers. Tubberville and his staff will probably have a bag full of cigars to puff on at midfield after the game, but the celebration will have to wait. LSU 24, Auburn 13.

See! There's another guru listing T.J. as our lone returning starter upfront.

Next!
David Irons will start at one corner. Ferguson (former LSU recruit) might if we play bump and run alot. Which we certainly will on passing downs with our DE's! (You know the ones that didn't start last year)

Tony Bell or Eric Brock will start at one safety spot.

Will Herring will be free safety and Gandy will probably be his backup.

Montavis Pitts is the other returning starter at CB but just might just be replaced with a incoming player. Jonathan Wilhite a junior college transfer and another lock down type corner. (a la Carlos)

Last, I would certainly not leave out the other two unknown runningbacks. Carl Stewart will play Ronnies role this year and Brad Lester is just waiting to bust into the scene. He is the shake and bake speed merchant who was injured last year and redshirted.

I'll make a deal with you Geaux. We won't smoke cigars if your rowdy fans don't throw things or rock the team bus.... That way your school president won't have to write us another apology letter.....

By the way, we also agree to keep our kicker away from your band.....LOL!

If you keep those cigars in your pockets, no one is going to rock your busses. And, by all means, don't let your kicker onto the field until the band finishes their half-time show. Ha-Ha Were you there for that? Quite a show! I was there and I saw the bus rocking, but I didn't participate. But I was as mad as any other LSU fan about your dayum kicker! Those band members should have kicked his a$$. Ha-Ha
Don't hesitate to come to Death Valley for this year's game. You'll be completely safe (you know that) and you should see a great football game.

Geaux,
I have been to several games at LSU. Never had a problem! After living in La. several times. You get good at spotting drunk coon-asses from a mile away.....LOL!

Here's to a good game!

My problem the last few years is both my sons play traveling baseball and then football. (14 and 12) The youngest ones team has won the Governors Cup in La. in baseball . The oldest team won the State Championship in Dizzy Dean this year. (Florida where I live). I coach him.... The youngest one is currently in Panama City trying to win the World Series.

Here is a link but I'm not in the picture... Lol!

www.eteamz.com/SouthernThunder

I have coached both sons off and on since they were five. One son is a pitcher and the other is batting over .450 and plays second.

During football season, I coach linebackers for both my sons teams.

Since the oldest turned 12, I have made three Auburn games and one on the road.... Sigh!

Why they're league plays football games on saturday escapes me.

I think that LSU will pull big wins against Tennessee and Auburn, but I am very timid about the Alabama game. We're on the road against them I think this year and the road team has always had the better record in that series. Does anyone know where I can get past copies of football games? ex... LSU versus Tennessee 2000, LSU vs. Florida 1997????

Sounds like your sons are contributing great memories for you to recall when they become college and/or pro athletes (or maybe engineers or lawyers or doctors, etc.). In any event, if they become really great baseball or football players, let them at least make a scholarship visit to LSU!

I thought better of it. I had the picture of Reggie as part of another fight on another board. Many a UGA fan thinks the head to head was intentional. I do not....

I have since edited....

Do I think we can beat LSU? Yes!

Will we be underdogs? Yes!

The game could get out of hand early or could be a knock down drag out fight. If something good happens for us early in the game or if something bad happens to LSU. We will have a chance......

Well thats the way a good fan does think,I go into every week thinking we can beat any team.Like last season when we played AU,every was saying we would lose and I knew it would be tough to win,but i still believed. ;)

Nice photoshop....

The big boy in the background is our starting fullback. Many a linebacker and CB do not like him for obvious reasons.

He carried the rock a total of one time all last season.

By the way, Spurlock comes up to his belly button.....

He looks like a big country boy. Nothing wrong with that if it gets the job done of course.

By the way, Spurlock is built like a house. Has the biggest calves I've ever seen and some huge shoulders.

Sounds about right, DJ. They're coming to OUR place and I will guarantee we've got lots of players who've played them more than once and remember some of their cigar-chomping antics. The real Tigers will be ready, I can assure you.

By the way, if you look it up we were the Tigers first by one year. Copycat!

Pun intended.......

That's what scare me, Dave. Spurlock only comes up to most guy's bellies. It could be another short stint on the first team for him.
