I want to know what everyone's sleeper of the year is. SEC and other. Every year the sleeper is the best story as far as I am concerned. It is what makes college ball so much more interesting. Think Maryland from a few years back or Iowa from a few years back (wasn't Banks their QB then?).
My picks:
SEC- well I have to choose my boys at SC
Others-Penn State; Paterno does it again
Texas Tech; building off last years finale with 8th ranked Cal

I am going with Purdue. They aren't the best team in the Big 10(11), but they don't have to play tOSU or Michigan. I could very easily see them winning the Big 10(11) because tOSU, Michigan, and Iowa all beat each other up.

Arkansas is a sleeper this year in the SEC. Outside the conference, I would say that Louisville Cardinals are going to do well.

outside the sec....nebraska could have a good year(if not they'll be another coaching search)they should not have fired solich he was a good one:confused:

I wouldn't necessarily call Bama a sleeper neesy, as we're barely inside the rankings on a couple of pre-season polls. A sleeper, IMO, is a team that nobody expects to come out on top.... obviously there's some folks who think we at least have a chance.
I'd say USC and/or Arkansas are the two potential sleepers for the SEC, mainly because I don't know what to expect from either one of them this year. First year without Jones in awhile for the 'Backs... First year with a new coach in awhile for SC. Both of them have the potential to pull off a couple of upsets, as nobody really knows what exactly to expect.

Since I've seen the Tide ranked as high as 16 in the polls I'll just go with Arkansas as the sleeper of the SEC. These guys are capable of making a lot of noise this year. I think Houston Nutt is set for at lest a couple upsets this season. Out of the SEC, I'll have to go with Notre Dame. I don't like these guys one bit but I have to say that their pretty good about getting that one huge upset every year. Does Michigan ring a bell? So, look out Southern Cal!

In the SEC: USC and either Arkansas or Ole Miss.
Nationally: NC State - if the offense doesn't self-destruct week after week like last year, watch out

SEC- Either Arkansas or Ole Miss, probably Arkansas
National- either Arkansas,Boise State, or Texas A&M, but I dont really know much about the national teams
If Arkansas can beat USC(VERY unlikely) then they may surprise a lot of people.
At the same time if Boise St. can beat UGA(not quite as unlikely)they could go undefeated and end up in a BCS bowl

Hey DJ you agree with me about well everything. Except Bama, since they are ranked in about everypoll sleeper isn't the right word. Unless they win the SEC. Then sleeper could be attributed to them.

UNC could be a much improved team this year. They have a new QB who played in the spring game and some other athletes. Whether they are a sleeper or not I am not sure. But they could at least ruin some other ACC teams day. The only problem; their schedule:
09/10/2005 Georgia Tech (ABC) Atlanta, Ga. 3:30 PM
09/17/2005 Wisconsin (ESPN2) Chapel Hill, N.C. 7:00 PM
09/24/2005 North Carolina State Raleigh, N.C. TBA
10/01/2005 Utah Chapel Hill, N.C. TBA
10/08/2005 Louisville Louisville, Ky. TBA
10/22/2005 Virginia Chapel Hill, N.C. TBA
10/29/2005 Miami Coral Gables, Fla. TBA
11/05/2005 Boston College Chapel Hill, N.C. TBA
11/12/2005 Maryland Chapel Hill, N.C. TBA
11/19/2005 Duke Chapel Hill, N.C. TBA
11/26/2005 Virginia Tech Blacksburg, Va. TBA
They do have the ability to cause some really big upsets that could put them on the fastrack to being nasty.

Sec: Ole Miss and USC (Ole Miss has a fairly easy schedule for the SEC...and well yall know why i picked USC)
Big East:Pitt(I just read an article bout them and it made me a believer especially in their QB)
Big Ten:Purdue(easy Big 10 Schedule and they were good for the first 7 or 8 games last year until they kinda crumbled with Orton)
ACC:UVA unless BC can be called a sleeper
Pac 10:Arizona (Don't know too much bout the Pac 10 but they got Stoops)
Big 12: Does A&M count? if not i will go with Iowa St.

Yeah I think Texas Tech is the big sleeper in the Big XII.
