Looks like Tiger is going to have the lead after the first round. He's sitting at -6 with a mob of many following at -4.

Do you think Tiger will be the first player since 1999 to win the British Open after leading after the first day or will someone close behind turn it on over the weekend and win?

Tiger had teh benefit of good weather today but unless he starts messing up off the tee like he did over the back nine, I don't see him putting any big scores out there. Someone's going to have to go LOW for two of the next three days to catch him.

I don't follow golf that closely, but it's hard to bet against Tiger. I have enjoyed going to a couple of tournaments (the Masters a couple of times when I lived in Augusta), and I enjoy playing a round of golf every now and then (although I usually prefer to play a match on the tennis courts); however, I can't stand to watch golf on the tube.

Yeah, it's not that exciting to watch unless you're actually there...i usually end up dozing if I ever watch it on TV. But it is good background noise to listen to as I work and it is a major so...wtf. :) I think my only-hindered-by-money addiction to playing golf maybe have something to do with my caring at all. :D

Tiger's up by 4 going into the last two rounds. No one's catching him...though there is a dood out there from the Netherlands who shot a 31 on the front nine this morning. A 62 at St. Andrews is only a bad score if you're playing the course on Tiger Woods' XBOX/PlayStation game. :D

Seriously, the closest big name with any hope is Vijay Singh and he's been putting like me lately. If I remember right, Tiger set the record at St. Andrews with a -19 when he won the British Open there a few years ago. He's on pace to break that by 3 strokes....the man can flat out play golf.
