No doubt...three years??

BOSS: "Wayzup, I need you to do a project for me down in South Carolina. Think you can handle it?"

WAYZUP:
"Yes sir, I'll have that ready for you in...say....three years. Meanwhile, we'll lose some customers/recruits due to the shadow of alleged impropriety hanging over the company/school and place an undue amount of stress on our company/program by having to worry about how it's coming along, not to mention the costs involved in making sure the job is done well. Yup, I'd say it should only take me three years. How's that work for you?"

They basically said they're finally done wasting time and money, but will release the findings in a couple of weeks.

no official word yet, but the expections are an agreement that there were no major infractions, just some minor ones. no word on what the self-inflicted punishment might be.

It's bad.... They slapped us with "lack of institutional control", which is as bad as it gets.

USC admits 10 NCAA rules violations
The Associated Press,

South Carolina admitted to 10 NCAA violations committed under former football coach Lou Holtz in a report released Wednesday.

Five of the violations were classified as major.

The report was prepared jointly by the NCAA enforcement staff and the university and has been forwarded to the NCAA’s Committee on Infractions, which can accept, reject or modify the proposed penalties.

The school found violations occurred when prospective student-athletes were given impermissible tutoring sessions and offseason workouts from 1999-2002.

South Carolina was also found to have a lack of institutional control.

The school proposed two years of probation, a reduction from 56 to 50 paid campus visits for football recruits this year and next; and a loss of two football scholarships for the 2006-07 and 2007-08 academic years.

School officials said Tom Perry, former senior associate athletic director for academic support services, and Pat Moorer, former strength and conditioning coach, are no longer with the school.

Holtz retired at the end of last season and was replaced by Steve Spurrier.

that's definitely worse than i was expecting....sounds like 2 scholarships a year might be increased by the NCAA....i don't know, but that sounds a little light to me considering we had 2 or 3 players playing full season while ineligible.

here's usc's full report to the ncaa (it's too long to copy and paste)...

Why do I want to slam Holtz for this, so bad? It's like the cLIMPson brawl was just the climax to a program spinning (I can't spell spiraling) out of control. Hopefully someone somewhere would have fired granny whether he wanted to retire or not.

Someone slap me back into my senses and tell me how Holtz elevated our program to new heights. Again.
