I am a pretty big Braves fan. I expect we would have a good bit of Braves fans here since most of the southeastern states don't have a MLB team.
I am really looking forward to the future of the Braves organization. Watching all of these young guys (10 rookies have made their major league debut this year) carry our injury ridden team really shows me what talent we have in our farm system. If our bullpen didn't absolutely SUCK, we would be leading the NL East by at least 5 games. And with all of the Braves injuries, they are only 2.5 back of the Nationals. The Nationals have no offense. They win almost every game with scores of 3-2 and 2-1. They have outstanding pitching though. With the way the Braves are swinging the bats, we will be a force to be reckoned with once we get our starting pitchers back.
I predict the Braves will once again win the NL East.

I think you are probably right about having a "good bit" of Braves fans on the board...I didn't really even like the MLB until I met cocky4ever, now I couldn't see myself pulling for any other MLB team other than the Atlanta Braves

With the Superstation, Everynight there was a Braves game to watch growing up.... So naturally, I became a Braves fan when they had the BEST LINEUP and the worst records. Horner, Murphy, Chambliss, Benidict, Hubbard, Washington, Neikro, Hrobosky, etc....
And on the same note... Saturday and Sunday at 6:05 - Wrastling

And you've got to think, TBS is a nationwide network nowadays, so regardless of living in the South people everywhere are exposed to the Braves on what seems like a daily basis. Kind of like WGN with Chicago.
As for me, I personally don't watch much baseball anymore, but when I do it's still the Braves. I grew up in a family of huge Braves fans, and kept up with the team through most of my childhood and teenage years.

I get to watch all the upcoming Braves players since we have season tickets to the Mississippi Braves. McCann and Franceour have been called up straight from our AA team here. I'm sure there are others that will be soon too. Chuck James may be the next Kyle Davies as he's been blowing away people in the minors.

The thing about the Braves is that since they moved to Atlanta, they stunk up Fulton County Stadium more times than not, until they began their recent run as top dogs of the division. Sure, there was the nice little run of games from 81-83, but there was some really terrible teams in the 70's and 80's. It made it easy to get good tickets for the best games. I remember when Fernando-mania was in full force and watching him pitch at the "Launching Pad". Here is to the days of Rafeal Ramirez, Andres Thomas, Ozzie Virgil, Rick Maehler, Gary Mathews, Craig McMurtry, Claudell Washington, Gene Garber, Ken Oberkfell, Zane and Pete Smith, etc.
It is truly amazing what the braintrust has been able to do the past couple of years. 2003 the team was not going to be a dominant pitching team anymore, so they out-slug their way to the division. 2004, the team lost two much fire-power, so JS pulls a fantastic trade and gets a career year out of JD Drew to help push the Braves offense. This year the injuries have been comical becasues of how many important players have been hurt. The leader of the offense and 3/5 of the starting rotation goes down, so they plug in a bunch of rookies and the result looks like it is going to match what has happened the past 14 seasons the season has not been stopped because of strike. I tip my hat to the organization who has find a way to get it done, when everyone but Braves fans are ready to write them off and done. Now, if they can only figure out the post-season. :D

I agree. We are playing with a very young team but they are starting to come together and hang in there. Plus the Braves usually seem to play better after the break anyway. The Phillies are having a pretty bad year, and the Mets..well..I dont have to say much about that. The only teams we have to seriously worry about are the Nationals and the Marlins. Like you said the Nationals have some good pitchers, but I dont see them holding on all year on that alone and winning the division. I could be wrong but I dont see the team that was the Expos last year winning a division this year. Hopefully the Braves can come together and take the lead for good this month.

Agree. I expect the Nationals to drop off after the All-Star break. Just can't see them continuing to play the way they have been. As for the Braves, I didn't expect them to win the division the last couple of years, especially after they didn't resign players like Maddux, Glavine, Sheffield, etc. However, the young talent they've brought up from their minor league system has really shined the last couple of years. And John Schuerholz and Bobby Cox have showed that they know what they are doing, so I won't doubt them this year. Also, they'll be getting Chipper, Hudson, Hampton, and Thomson back from injuries shortly after the All-Star break, which should give them a huge boost.
