I don't know about you guys, but I can't wait for this friggin fight to go down. HBO had a 30-minute special on it last night that was great. You guys could probably catch it at some point today or into the next week or so. It was good, so I advise all to watch it. I think FSN is airing something about X tonight at 7pm. The ADG had two articles today about it and 103.7 is broadcasting live from Vegas starting on Wednesday I think.
Jim Lampley (HBOs best, imo, boxing analyst) said he wouldn't be surprised if JT "blew Hopkins up" on Saturday. He said he's "never seen all these skills packed into a middleweight before and it's hard to imagine that there could ever be more of a physical speciman in the class."
I'm not so sure, b/c Hopkins is a masterful boxer, but I'm sure hoping Jermain can do well. Hopkins likes to frustrate (and bore the crowd) his opposition and then capitalize on mistakes late in the fight. In other words, on many nights, the X is hard, if not downright impossible, to get to. Lampley and others seem to think he'll have a tough time doing that b/c of Jermain's superb jab, which is the best in the sport right now. He's going to have trouble hiding from Jermain b/c JT's biggers, stronger and faster.
I just can't wait for this. I feel like I did before the Hogs played in the title games in '94 and '95. I just wanted to know if other Arkies are excited and other SEC boys give hoot.
Please, if you tune in on Sat., pull for our man Jermain. If he wins, there couldn't possibly be a nicer, more respectful and yet brutal champion.
