I was just wondering what the State fans think about the upcoming season.

Are there any State fans here? I think Vandy has one and Kentucky has 2. So these three must be the least represented teams here. But I second the notion to find out about them.

I'm not a State fan, but I can tell you that I don't think they are going to do very well. Croom has run off many of the scholarship players, including some starters. It could be one of Starkville's darkest seasons. It is not inconceivable for them to lose every single game.

I think We will win 4 , which will be a small step forward considering we haven't done that in 4 years.

Geauxto is correct , there have been many players excused from this team and the lines will be thin. Still , they could be improved. They should be much more comfortable running their offense this year as oppossed to last year's learning on the go.

Conner has a year of experience under his belt and Jerious Norwood returns. The running lanes may be thin and not there very often , but when they are Norwood can hit the homerun and take it all the way on one play as he did to beat UF last year.

Defense is a ? Croom has moved some players around and hopefully it will = a stronger unit.

Win or lose , I am ready for some football.

Nice post, Ace! Very unhomerish and realistic. I hope I can come see a game in Starkville someday. I want to hear those cowbells!

Yes, very good post indeed Ace. I also feel that MSU can hit 4-5 wins this season, which will be great for you guys. I'd kinda like to see you guys give Arkansas a run for their money in Little Rock, mainly so I can rag all the Hog fans at work about it. :p

With Matt Jones finally gone , I think an upset of Arkansas is possible.

MSU played them very close last year losing 24-21. The turning point in the game was an MSU fg attempt blocked by the Hogs and returned for a td , a quick 10 point swing that was the difference in the game.

I think you are right,MSU does not have a good team, but with a very easy schedule and a good coach u guys might just get 5-6 wins.

You and I see it almost exactly the same.

Auburn , UGA , LSU , UF and BAMA will all be losses , I agree.

Murry St , Tulane , Houston and UK will all be wins , I agree.

Arkansas.......I wouldn't go as far as to say it is a tossup , but I will say it is a winable game though I would still favor Ark. They have been a difficult team for MSU to beat even when we have had good teams and they will have homefield.

Ole Miss........As a true MSU fan , I am not willing to call this one a loss yet. Who knows what direction UM will go in after last years 4-7 finish. Look at last years UM team. They only won 4 games , Vandy in OT , Ark St , S.CAR and MSU. They could have easily lost the Vandy game and only led MSU by 7 starting the 4th quarter in Oxford. Right now I would still give the edge to the Rebels , but they are still unproven at QB and this years Eggbowl is in Starkville. Who knows , a lot can happen between now and November. It may be a worn out saying but it is true. Throw the records out the window when these 2 play each other.

I appreciate those comments. JWS made MSU believe they could be winners with several nice seasons. Problem is , he stayed too long. He should have stepped down a year earlier or should have been asked to step down. It could end up being a blessing though. I don't know if MSU would have been interested in Croom before Bama interviewed him.

Given time to recover from probation and build his own team with his kind of players , I believe Coach Croom can get MSU back to having winning seasons and someday even back to Atlanta.
