LSU receiver and punt returner Skyler Green underwent minor arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle in late June but will not miss any preseason practices as a result, LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette said Tuesday.
Green, a senior from the New Orleans suburb of Westwego, suffered a high ankle sprain in the last preseason scrimmage of 2004. He aggravated the injury late in the season opener against Oregon State and played at less than full speed the rest of the season.
Bonnette said the arthroscopic surgery was a routine procedure. "It was nothing more than going in cleaning up some scar tissue that lingered from last year's injury," Bonnette said. "The recovery time is minimal. He'll be at 100 percent when the team reports for fall camp on Aug. 6."

Hopefully for the Tigers and Green's future, it doesn't flare up again. High ankle sprains are annoying like that in the fact that they never seem to go away. Look at Deuce McAllister's Junior and Senior years and then last year in the NFL. It's definitely one of the more annoying and sidelining injuries in football.

Several years ago, I played a lot of handball at LSU and at the YMCA and I got a high-ankle sprain. It took longer to heal than a break. As a matter of fact, I was sensitive to that ankle for about a year it seems.

The important question here is: Did you win the handball games?!

Who was the defensive lineman that got arrested recently for assault? I saw something about it but I didn't have time to read it.

He said he was defending a girl, at her request. He's a 6'4" 260 lb. junior and at the top of the depth chart. Once he knocked the guy to the ground, he kicked him, the police said. Miles is "looking into it."

An LSU football player was arrested Thursday morning and charged with second-degree battery after he allegedly punched another man in the face at a university area bar, police spokesman Sgt. Don Kelly said. Baton Rouge police arrested defensive end Benjamin Chase Pittman, 22, 225 Greenhaven Drive, and booked him into parish prison, Kelly said. He posted a $5,000 bond later that morning.
