With everything that Auburn lost from last year, are they going to be able to continue their winning ways or do they come back down to reality?

What reality would that be? Since 1994, their record is 89-44. During the same period, Alabama is 81-53

And since you asked, over the last decade...

1. Tenn, 109-29
2. FLA, 106-32
3. UGA, 94-39
4. Auburn, 89-44
5. LSU, 85-47
6. ALA, 81-53
7. Ole Miss, 73-56
8. Arkansas, 73-59
9. MSU, 59-68
10. USC, 56-69
11. KTY, 44-81
12. VAN, 30-93

Hey man..with stuff like "reality" you'll be quick to get flamed.

I look for Auburn to go about 8-3 this year. Losses to LSU, Bama, and one more..maybe Arkansas (could easily be Georgia Tech instead of Arkansas).

They just lost too much, to make another run at the SEC Title especially with as strong as LSU looks. But hey..they could do it. I think they're the second choice to come out of the west and we're the darkhorse.

Within the context of his remarks, indeed!

I also envision a non-title run for the Lee Countians, but with losses to LSU, UGA and pesky Arky on the road. I think Auburn holds service within the confines of Jordan-Hare.

Lets think about this in another way....

Since CTT came aboard in 1999.
Auburn has won the west twice. The SEC Championship once. We have tied for the west twice more but lost the tie breakers.

Then to break down recruiting class rankings from 2002 until current. These are based on the point system that recruiting services assign to player star rankings.

rank - team - points
1 - Southern Cal - 5235
2 - LSU - 4497
3 - Texas - 4469
4 - Georgia - 4394
5 - Oklahoma - 4365
6 - Miami-FL - 4295
7 - Tennessee - 4168
8 - Auburn - 4066
9 - Florida State - 4032

We don't have to face Tenn. or Florida this coming year and our first five games are at home.....So, you be the judge....

Hey Rebel?

How many times since 1994 till current has Ole Miss or even Alabama lined up against eastern conference power teams. Like let's say Tenn, UGA and Florida when SOS was prowling the sidelines.

Auburn played Florida 10 times
Auburn has played Tenn. 5 times
Auburn plays Georgia every year.

I see the barn going 7-4,maybe 8-3. They lost a ton of key talent on both sides of the ball. 3 #1 picks, if I am not mistaken, is alot to overcome especially considering wingnut has had good, not great classes lately.

Thats fair enough!

I have Bama at 7-4 maybe 8-3 without injuries in several key areas.

You might look at the recruiting rankings that I provided again. The only highly rated recruiting class Bama has had in several years is when you signed 30 players. 25 can get in......

Lets breakdown postion by position.

QB advantage Bama Croyle because he has more expereince. Your predicted backup does not.

RB even (You don't know at this point how Darby will turn out nor the incoming freshmen) Two of ours are juniors.

WR's Advantage Auburn

TE advantage Auburn

O-Line advantage Auburn

D-Line Advantage Auburn We are loaded at DE and have one of the better noseguards in the SEC. The replacement DT starter will be a senior....

Linebackers Sight Advantage Auburn All three starters return. One was all SEC last year.

CB's slight advantage Bama Although they may well change before the season is over.

K Advantage Auburn

P Advantage Auburn

Coaching Staff Advantage Auburn Until proven different

I cannot give ya linebackers, Ryans and Roach are very good. I would say more than a "slight" @ cb for Bama.

Any team that wants to beat Auburn is going to have be sure in their misdirection runs and quick, short passing games. It's going to be hard to run straight ahead against the two 300lb DTs but you may be able to take advantage of McGlover and Groves speed on counters and draws.

Also I think I give the LB advantage to Bama at this standpoint and a more than slight advantage on the DBs to Bama too because this is their last year as a unit with 3 of 4 being seniors.

Rebel,

My post wasn't negative by intention. One of the original post was teams record from 1994 until current. I thought it would behoove all to see that some teams records are affected by who they played and which eastern foes some teams didn't.

Super,
You lost a starter at linebacker and the only first team SEC performer at that postion that you had. (Wortham) Auburn's returns as well does the two other starters. I believe your secondary is not as good as you think. They saw less passing attempts then anybody else in the league. Over 100 less attempts then we did. The closest other number of attempts were to MSU and Kent. I wonder why?

we lost wortham but roach isn't a pushover. he was the starting MLB the year before and got beat by the senior wortham this past year. and roach is a key to our defense since he can play multiple positions like he did last year.

Our Georgia schedule negates your Tenn.

We played Florida twice as many times as you had to and our five Tenn. games beats your three Georgia ones. That in the last ten years.

well auburn's qb was a lifetime bama fan but alabama didn't recruit him because he didn't fit in franchione's option schemes. just goes to show you one teams "trash" is another teams "treasure"

side note: in no way am i saying cox is trash, i mean he would fit in shula's offense fine, but we didn't go after him because of fran.

Hey you asked the question about how many times..all I did was tell who and how many times. You indicated that Auburn is the only west team taking on the dreaded east teams. How about LSU they have probably face the east with more success than anybody.

I might be in the minority but I think Auburn will be really good next year.

Their offense won't be as good but their defense will win them games. Their RBs are talented and their WRs are very good. Don't know much about Cox but I hear he is pretty good.

The Auburn defense will be very good. Their secondary took a hit this year but with Groves and McClover rushing the QB, I think the secondary will be alright. Their LBs are best in the SEC as well.

I see Auburn going 9-2.
