that when steve said, more than once during spring, that what we saw was not the final team, is coming to fruition. I first thought we might have 4 or 5 immediate contributors. Now it looks like half the darn class could play considerable amounts of time. Nothing wrong with that. The holdovers need to get it in gear

I think it's a good thing to get these young guy's feet wet. We will need them to be battle tested in '06, '07, and '08 if we are ever to compete to win the East.

My opinion on playing freshmeat is this. If the recruit looks like he has potential to be in the nfl one day then you should not redshirt him. Get him in there as soon as possible. Even though redshirting someone prolongs their college career, they still mature and get better (supposedly). With so many good college players leaving school early to go in the draft these days I think it only makes sense to get as much out of them as possible.

Spurrier recruited many of these players to fit his style. Most are fast, and the receivers have good hands. Those are his type players. If they contribute, Iagree, get them in there.

Oh they'll be in there and we will all see it on Sep. 1! All those guys that are suspended for that game better hope that the freshmen don't steal the show ;)

Some of those freshman are gonna be brutal, ie OJ Murdock.

I am really looking to see how he and Mike Davis adapt to the college game. I look for us to have at least 2, if not more 1,000 yard receivers this fall. Would be nice to get a couple of 1,000 yard backs and a 2,000 QB as well.

i dont know about all that...our o line is weak on depth..that is asking much..we havent had a 1000 yard rusher since derek watson, much less two in one season

Why does everyone keep saying our OL is thin??? We redshirted like 8 O-Linemen and our OL isn't really thin, it's just that people have been moved around. If we start getting the "Injury" bug, then we can move those individuals back to the OL.

I just think that Spurrier wasn't going to play that many freshman, so he was moving the players around to create depth.

One of the first things Spur-rier did was to stop pre-game trips to the fried chicken trough, improve the teams overall nutrition, and concentrate on getting them in shape. I believe some of our problems during games was fatigue. Their strength program has been re-designed (i.e. back to doing deep-squats) and Spurrier actually goes to every practice, even those in the early a.m. Bottom line: The team may not have as many injuries as we saw under Holtz. Which would be good for the O-Line like you said.

I agree with Neo. We are not "thin" at OL like many love to say. We have simply had very inconsistent and sometimes terrible play from our interior linemen in the spring. Two of the best tackles around. Probably why Spurrier ran off tackle and to the outside so much during the spring. However, with that being said, our inside running game was not as bad as you may think. Sometimes very good actually. It was pass blocking that stunk. We will be fine.

Correctamundo.

We have the bodies, but some of the bodies were recruited for a "Run" based offense. It's just gonna take a little more time for them to get familiar with the "Cock-N-Fire".

Maybe since they have stopped going to Bernies and BoJangles, the WR's can catch the ball since their lil fingers won't be so greasy :p

Somehow, I am not sold on this name, "Cock-N-Fire".....how about "Run-N-Gun", "1st-N-Ten", "One Pass, One Run-N-Yo Defense Is Done", or "Fire-N-Forget"?

I mean, when your lady asks you what you're watching on the idiot box and you say the "Cock-N-Fire", she will probably hear, my Cock-on-Fire
