What about moving Syvelle to rb. Last year we all witnessed what he is capable of when he gets the ball. It now looks like we will be forced to start turman or a freshman. I love turman, but i dont think he is a starting sec caliber back. If our incoming freshman recievers are as good as advertised, this actually may not be unthinkable.

Syvelle has put on 10 lbs since last year. We could really use him the back-field. I think that would be a good move for SOS to make....

May not be a bad move. SN can run with the ball... had plenty of practice last year with the QB draw. Could make for an interesting weapon for trick plays too

Our TB corp is not as depleted as one would think. We have....
Turman
Ashcraft
Wallace
Davis
Rank
Young
and a few others.
I would feel a lot better about starting freshman at the TB position than any other position. I don't know about you, but I've seen a good bit of freshman compete and start all over the country. It's not exactly a bad thing.

do you think that CB is out for the whole year or is this just a short term thing....cause this is making our year look dim when all of our really experienced backs are gone....

I wouldnt like to have Newton as a back on the team. It may be a good idea to line him up as a back on some plays, but mainly to confuse opposing defenses. We have some great freshmen receivers and tight ends coming in, but I would prefer to keep Newton out of harms way if possible. Plus he has already been learing the routes and even asked if he could be moved to receiver. I think he should stay where he is or maybe line up as a back on special occasions, usually in the red zone as a threat in the backfield to help free up Rice. Either way it is always a good thing to have a player who can line up as a qb, tailback, or receiver.

I believe Newton should be kept right where he is. As Neo pointed out, we are not lacking depth that much at RB, and that is not his normal home. Anyone who saw him in the spring can attest to his speed, and he has pretty good hands. I think he is right where he belongs. Just my .02.
