Walk Ons

Walk Ons is not just the name of a popular restaurant just off of the LSU campus, but under NCAA rules, each year a school can invite five walk-ons that will report with the scholarship players each Fall and take part in Fall practice. Walk-ons who are not invited walk-ons can not join the team until the start of the Fall semester. Invited walk-ons, along with redshirt freshmen and incoming freshmen, practice mostly with what is called the scout play. That is, they are used during game weeks to represent the opposing team’s offense and defense that LSU will be facing on the playing field Saturday. LSU probably has more outstanding walk-on players on the 2005 team than I can ever recall. As a rule, most walk-ons only play a few plays in Tiger Stadium during their entire career, but they are very important to the team and receive bowl game rings. Below are a few of the invited walk-ons who I was impressed with at Spring practice and in the Spring game.

That restaurant Walk-Ons serves soem pretty good food. If you are on the campus i highly recommend it.
