Staying attune to Spurrier
Florida radio station signs on to carry USC football games

The Steve Spurrier effect has reached the radio dial.
An FM station in Gainesville, Fla., where Spurrier played and later coached at Florida, will broadcast each of USC’s football games this fall and also plans to air Spurrier’s weekly call-in show. Steve Cox, the program director for WBXY, said his station was pleased to get the Gamecocks’ first-year coach back on the Gainesville airwaves.
“We would love to air Florida games, but there’s only one station (WRUF in Gainesville) that can do that,” Cox said Tuesday. “So this was the next-best thing. This gets coach Spurrier back on the air in Gainesville.”
