I really don't think this belongs in the "funny stuff" section..I understand the cartoon's intended "humor", but I personally do not think that the Anti-Lynching Apology that was made on Monday is at ALL a laughing matter.

the best part about all this was the reporter that repeatedly asked sen byrds assistant if sen sheets "participated in or knew anyone that paticipated in lynchings or cross burnings"

all the assistant could say was "i dont know"

Making such an apology borders on stupidity; and our Louisiana Senator was the co-sponsor! She's a dumbbell and so is the notion of such an apology. You didn't do it, I didn't do it, they didn't do it. Pretty soon the real business of governing will digress into making apologies for every past wrong (a really long list) and every Tom, Dick, and Harry with a perceived grievance will be lobbying for an apology (and reparations).

my belief exactly this is designed to "fire up the troops" going into the 2006 election
