The University of Tennessee has landed its first commitment for the 2006 class by combo guard Marques Johnson(6-5, 205). Marques was getting interest from Purdue, NC State, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, Georgetown, and Arkansas. The young man has played point for his AAU team for the past three years, but started as a shooting guard. This marks the second commitment Coach Pearl and staff have secured from the state of Indiana. The Vols received a commitment from 2008 PG Cordell Passley. Pearl's ties to the state(former coach of Division II S. Indiana) seem to be paying off now that he is coaching a upper D-I school.
