Report fuels Gitmo criticism (http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/06/13/gitmo.time/index.html)

The U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay is drawing fresh criticism following a magazine report on a logbook tracing the treatment of a detainee who officials believe was intended to take part in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Time magazine said the interrogation techniques included "standing for prolonged periods, isolation for as long as 30 days, [and] removal of clothing."

Standing for prolonged periods, isolation for as long as 30 days, and removal of clothing. Sounds like my last trip to renew my driver's license.

i think we can all agree that most of these complaints about gitmo are overblown and absurd. but the one thing that concerns me more about gitmo than anything else is simply the fact that we've had plenty of guys in the prison for 3+ years now and we still don't know whether they're terrorists or not. it shouldn't take that long to make an intelligent and legal decision about how involved each of these individuals is. that alone makes me question how good our intelligence really is at this point.

Everyone needs to understand that;

A: These prisoners are NOT entitled to the rights granted to us by the US Constitution. They're not American citzens. I wish these bedwetters in DC could understand that.

B: Most of the prisoners are not entitled to articles within the Geneva Convention either. These prisoners were not captured under an enemy flag nor do they represent the military of a foreign government. :cool:

The Geneva convention actually says anyone not in a uniform can be shot on sight. These guys should consider themselves lucky..... :cool:
