Thanks Silver that was a great read. Looks like both of them are making an immediate impact.

I don't think the Bengals really have much of a choice. Look at that team, it must be the most pathetic team in the NFL. Now, if they were starters for; NE, Philly, GB or a team like that, then I would be impressed. Right now, being designated as a starter for the Bengals is not something to cheer about yet. It may be a desperation move.

as a bengals fan i must protest! going 8-8 two years in a row, while not worthy of much praise, is hardly equal to being one of the most pathetic teams in the NFL! hehe.
i think we can all agree the 49ers are the most pathetic team at this point. it pains me to have pollack on the bengals, but i'm heartened by the thought that he's a quality player and won't get nearly as much attention in the NFL as he did in college. i didn't dislike him because he played so well against the Gamecocks, but instead because every 3rd word out of an announcer's mouth during TV broadcasts was 'Pollack.'....so incredibly annoying, hehe. he could be blocked on single coverage, the ball run to the other side of the field for a 5 yd gain, tackled by a linebacker, and they would still find a way to mention pollack.

Starting in the NFL is starting in the NFL. Impressive no matter what team you play for. You can try and make it look nothing all you want but the fact is they are NFL starters. I suppose Alex Smith has nothing to cheer about since he is starting for the 49ers who are the worst team in the NFL. What about Ronnie Brown? He shouldn't be cheering at all. The Dolphins suck. ,
Also, the Bengals picked at like 18th. If they were as big a joke as you make them out to be, wouldn't they be picking top 5?

I have a feeling we will be hearing even more about Spurrier.

this year, i definitely agree....hopefully that will be a one year deal and after that the team will speak for itself mostly....as long as he's here spurrier will almost certainly be the main focus for the media, but hopefully not the only focus.
however, much like you hearing about pollack all the time probably didn't annoy you i'm thinking talk about spurrier isn't going to annoy me much either, hehe.

the bengals are definitely a playoff contender this year....their offense was so much better in the 2nd half of the season....chad and rudi johnson, carson palmer, tj houshmandzadeh....that's a pretty solid young group.
the defense has been the question mark each of the past two seasons, but marvin lewis is a D genius and he's building a fine group of young talent.
they're no threat for the super bowl for another 3 or 4 years i'm sure, but pollack and thurman will be assets for quite some time...specifically pollack.

Actually the Pollack story did start annoying me. It got old after the 2002 season. Luckily, I was at all the games so I didn't have to listen to the TV broadcasters. You shouldn't hold that against Pollack though, it is out of his control.
