"Vashon did not meet NCAA eligibility requirements and will not play his senior season for the Ole Miss Rebels," Orgeron said. "He is no longer on the team."

:( Not good...who's Ole Miss's next-in-line in the backfield?

Jamal Pittman and Pearson were splitting the starting duties coming out of the spring. Pittman has the potential to be as good or better than Pearson, given the reps AND assuming that he can stay healthy. He has had knee problems. I was looking forward to a standout year for Vashon. He's a helluva back. You're right, this is not good news. :(

Just heard that this morning. This is going to sting a little bit, however JR RB Jamal Pittman who has been battling injury the past two seasons is healthy and should be able to carry on.

Looks like he's gonna get it. He has shown promise, maybe if he can get a season in he'll surprise us. Sure hope so.

The only thing that scares me about Jamal is the fact that he has had two knee injuries in the last two and a half years. There are a couple of freshmen that may get an early shot at the slot. Too the RB from Indiana has to sit out a year.

Yea, his (Pittman) knees are of concern, but lets not forget about Alan Abrams, sophmore RB that Averaged 4.9 yds per carry last season (275 yds 56 carries)and his best game was against Auburn (11 rushes for 59 yds.). He could very well be very productive if given more playing time.
Pittman was #1 on spring depth chart.

We've also got Brandon Jacobs and even Larry Kendrick. We're not dead in the water, by any means.

Is Abrams the red-headed white kid that ran the ball a good bit during the spring game?

No. He's the black-headed black kid #9.

Who was the red-headed guy? Short and stocky. Pretty stout, in fact. Kinda reminded me of Mike Alstott...
