Probably the Top TE recruit has named UGA his leader. NaDerris Ward from Oakland CA recently named UGA his leader at this point with Oklahoma, Miss. St, California, and a host of other behind the dawgs.

UGA definately has a sales pitch with their recent TE's....Randy McMichael(NFL 1st rounder), Ben Watson(NFL First Rounder), Leonard Pope(Future top ten pick).

I'm talking college buddy. UGA's past two TE's have been 1st round picks. Leonard Pope will be a top 10 pick barring an injury.

1st round pick does not a great player make

for a scool to be considered a "player U" they have to consistently produce long term stars at that position for the nfl not just first round picks

What I was referring to is the fact that UGA's past 3 TE's have/will be 1st round picks. A first round pick warrants big $$$. UGA can use this to lure in Top TE's. I guess Florida can't be called QB Univ. anymore b/c they haven't produced hardly any stars in the NFL...just outstanding College QB's.

We do have a great tradition of TEs. When Leonard Pope leaves that will be 3 first round TEs in 5 years. Not bad if you ask me. Don't forget to add Jermaine Wiggnins who starts for the Vikings.

I buy into this one. I think that UGA has earned such a title. Keep in mind, it often takes tight-ends at least a couple of years to make an impact in the pros.

TE NaDerris Ward: Georgia the leader of this California prospect, followed by the likes of Oklahoma, Mississippi St., Kansas St., Cal, Oregon St., Oregon and LSU. Probably will not make his final decision until after his senior season.

I have to agree. UGA puts out TE's like a factory....Watson has to push past Daniel Graham though and not bashing the former Bulldog whatsoever but I think Graham is better all-around.

Good call on Wiggins...he's vastly underrated, I think.

I'm curious Dawg fans...how would you say Pope compares to players like Watson & Wiggins? Is he as good? Better? Much better?

MUCH better. He was our best receiver last year. Had he started in the beginning of the season, he may have eclipsed 1000 yards. He's 6'8, 250 lbs and has hands of glue. He is also a beast when it comes to blocking.

(Wayz makes mental note....trade up in fantasy football to draft this guy)

thanks for the info :D

He is a better receiver than both of them. I mean he is 6'8" and runs like a 4.6 forty. He is an easy target for QBs to hit. See the Florida game last year.

He could work on his blocking. Watson was a very good blocker and stronger than an ox. He holds the UGA bench press record with a bench of 560 I think. Watson is also underrated as a receiver. He didn't get many chances his senior year to showcase his receiving abilities because he had to help our horrid O-line block so much.

Wiggins split time with Larry Brown at Georgia. Donnan really liked his TEs so they were both a big part of the offense.

Sounds like a monster....and blocking is something that can be coached.
