View Full Version : Shockley Sucks!
Well,
I guess I've ragged on the infamous Brodie "Mr. Glass" Croyle and Alabama enough. Now it's time for a little DJ Shockley bashing. :D
I don't know what it is about these Shockley fans. I'm not sold on this guy unlike some people. I've seen comments about this guy making David Greene look like a chump. Well, I couldn't disagree more. Shockley doesn't have the testicular fortitude for that just yet.
DJ Shockley hasn't done SQUAT and already he's being linked as one of the best in the SEC???? Whoever thinks that Shockley will do better than Greene needs a CATSCAN immediately.

uh-oh now all the UGA fans with their Shockley sunglasses are gonna come in and attempt to bash USC QBs and say that Shockley wasnt given a chance to play and so on and so on.....i say the kid might be good but he kinda reminds me of Quincy Carter and i hope he throws 5 picks when UGA and USC square off just like Carter did against us.....

Shockley may not be the second coming...but he is a very very impressive athelete. Hopefully Richt can get him to calm down a little bit in the pocket and he will make smart decisions. With our running game and O-Line he can look to manage the game rather than be the playmaker and all-star. I hope he does well, he deserves it, not many players with his talent would stick with a team for as long as he has and not be a starter.

DJ Shockley hasn't done SQUAT
Couldn't be anymore wrong Neo. I have some question for you Neo, who is the only SEC QB to throw a TD in a BCS bowl game? The answer would be DJ Shockley. Who won the Clemson game in 2002 for us? The answer is Shockley again. Who threw our only TD pass against Tennessee this past year? DJ Shockley.
One thing is for sure, he has done a HELL of a lot more than any QB that USC has on campus.

Don't even compare a Heisman Trophy winner and one of the winningest QB's in NU history to an unproven, untested HS QB. It's an insult to Crouch, NU and the game of college football.

It's not ridiculous. It's reality. I've never seen such an optimistic bunch in my life. How many passes has Shockley attempted? Pushing it, I would say 40 maybe 50. Even with those FACTS, UGA fans are still singing his praise and making him sound like a seasoned SEC vet.

Shockley's career stats playing in David Green's system basically with 1 or 2 series a game...He's had way more than 40-50 snaps
67 completions
133 attempts
50.5 completion %
967 Yds
10 TD
4 INT
321 Rushing Yards

Oh so by throwing a TD in a BCS game makes you an expert? Is that what you're saying?
Oh forget it! You look at everything in a skewed pro-UGA point of view with everything. Building yourself up like you are only leads to disappointment.
Shockley's gonna bust and your post about him not getting to play proves my point. David Greene had the limelight and Shockley couldn't get REAL playing time. Now, since he couldn't get significant playing time, how's he supposed to win all these games?
You can't have it both ways chief.

That's your major problem. You keep comparing Shockley to PROVEN winners. The thing is, I don't think Martin was a great QB. What helped him was the fact that he had some of the best WR's in the nation.

Shockley's going to have the best TE in the nation with very talented receivers to complement(Bailey, Bryant, McClendon, and true Freshman Massaqoui). Tee Martin wasn't a proven winner win he succeeded Manning yet he took them to the national championship.

I think if Richt can create a situation where Shock will not throw when the offense HAS to throw, he could be a pretty good player....much better than we (or I) think. It's absolutely imperative that Richt gets that running game going....if the running game stalls and opposing DEs can pin their ears back on the rush, Georgia will lose four games.
That said, from what I've heard, Richt has the right idea.....design some plays that get Shock into space. Be three-dimensional (HB rush, pass, QB rush) in the attack. That, in theory, should loosen things up. Of course, that's uh-ga's theory. Let's see if it happens.

Jermaine Copeland was the other talented receiver. Didn't have much speed, but he was both shifty and tough. That was a grind-it-out team who would get you thinking about stopping the run and then hit you deep downfield.
Really, the team hung their hat on the defense. Al Wilson was one bad dude who willed the team to victory. There are some similarities in makeup to this season's UGA team, but that certainly does not guarantee comparable results.

Wow!
I mean, is that something that we should all really care about? When Shockley threw that TD, was the 1st string defense on the field? I don't know about anyone else, but the fact that he threw a TD in a BCS game is a worthless stat to me.
That still doesn't argue the fact that Shockley is unproven. Handling David Greene's lightwork or coming in for "Mop-up" duty is totally different from starting the game. Here's the synopsis of my argument.
Here in this post, you are trying to show that DJ Shockley has gametime experience and he will be a-ok.
