Gator,
Is this going to be a permanent thread like I've done with the "USC Recruiting News" thread? If so, if you need any help, just holler. I have many resources and people on hand if needed.

Thanks, Neo. I guess I'll make it permanent.....but I don't have time to do all of the huge updates that you do. I'll just chime in with interesting developments as they arise. Thanks.
Power Back Interests Tigers
By Phil Kornblut
RB Jo Jo Cox (5-10 221) of Jeffersonville, GA rushed for 1862 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior. He's a power back who has good moves in the open field. He has good speed and is hard to catch once he breaks free. Cox, who is a teammate of Clemson recruiter LB Antonio Clay, says he has offers from Clemson, Penn State, Maryland, UCLA, Alabama, Notre Dame and Texas Tech. He's also hearing from Auburn, Florida, Florida State and LSU. He does not claim a favorite. Cox attended Clemson's spring game and was at the Clemson-Maryland game last season. He also went to Auburn's spring game. He will attend team camp at Alabama this summer.

After landing Carl Johnson, Gators got some more good news:
UF is the clear leader for Jamar Hornsby, athlete/safety out of Sandalwood (FL).
rivals ranking: 6.1
5-star prospect
#3 position ranking
#26 overall rivals-100
Looks like we could be headed for a top-3 class, at least. :D
A great time at Florida (http://www.florida.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=422932)

Hornsby and Fayson appear to be a package deal....and both have UF at the top of their respective lists. It just gets better and better, lol.

....and better:
UF offered #1 rivals overall, Percy Harvin, who has UF in his top five: UF, f$u, scUM, Michigan, and USC Trojans. Tennesshe and l-essU are on the fringe, not completely eliminated but not looking so good either.

Corey Hobbs--no. 18-20 in FL with offers from Florida, Bama, uh-ga, l-essU, Southern Cal, f$u, usc--also has UF leading. The quote of the day has to be Hobbs on his uh-ga visit: "Since we had to get to Florida, we didn't spend much time there." Priceless, lol.

Harvin is FSU all the way I think.
Also, our staff isn't too worried about losing Hobbs. He is a gator lock anyways.

Maybe. Landstown head coach Chris Beattey said f$u had a lead earlier but that since then, all schools are now even.
"I honestly think all five are even," said Beatty. "If you had asked me a month ago, I would have said FSU was ahead, but with all the schools coming in this past month and getting to know the other coaches, he's not leaning there now. The top five are ahead of the other two, but they are all even."
We'll see. I think he'd be smart to head to UF with Meyer's wide-open attack rather than Bubby's sorry excuse for an offense.

**Reggie Nelson QUALIFIES!**
Passed his last math test today....he'll probably be in Gainesville before the weekend begins. This is HUGE for us. My guess is he'll start opposite Webb as our other corner this fall. This was a major piece of the 2005 puzzle.

Gators land 4-star Damian Williams from Arkansas (that's #2 of the "fab-5").
From GB:
"In the end, Williams picked the Gators over offers from the likes of Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Texas A&M, Nebraska, UCLA, Michigan, Clemson and Tennessee.
He ended up with 27 offers total.
Williams is the No. 2 rated prospect on the "Arkansas 20."
Last season, as a junior, he caught 31 passes for 545 yards and 4 touchdowns."

UF lands "big hurt," Maurice Hurt: Hurt was named the No. 3 offensive line prospect at this year's Athens NIKE Camp held over the summer, behind only Andre Smith and Carl Johnson (another Gator verbal).
Hurt chose the Gators over Bama, Auburn, l-essU, Chokelahoma, MSU, and the Gamecocks.

He hasn't been to FSU yet. I personally think he is a Nole all the way. I sure hope UF doesn't get him.

From GB:

Rivals.com told you about Archer (Fla.) P.K. Yonge wide receiver/cornerback Derrick Robinson in July as a prospect that you might want to keep an eye out for. He recently picked up an offer from the local Gators and has now decided where he'll attend college.
Robinson will play both football and baseball at Florida.
"I went to the Florida-Mississippi State game yesterday and I committed," Robinson said. "I committed to play both football and baseball. I talked to one of the baseball assistants, I talked to my football recruiting coach and coach Meyer. Coach Meyer just gave me a hug and told me he was pretty much expecting it."
The 5-foot-11, 159-pound Robinson attended the Tallahassee NIKE camp where he turned in a camp best 4.25 second 40-yard dash. He also ran the shuttle in 4.25 seconds, posted a 30-inch vertical jump and did nine reps on the bench press.
"I was pretty much waiting to go to a game so that I could do it in person," Robinson said. "It feels good to get it off my shoulders. I had some other schools that were calling, but they pretty much knew that I was going to Florida so they didn't really call but once."
Robinson only played in the first three games of his junior season because he sustained a broken wrist. He plays wide receiver and cornerback for his high school team.
"I really enjoyed the game yesterday," Robinson said. "They started out a little rusty, but they really got going in the second half. I liked the way they executed and stuck to their game plan. Florida told me that they want me to come in and try wide receiver and defensive back and we'll see where I work out best once I get on campus."

That's a good pick up. We need tons of speedy WRs and DBs if we're going to run the spread and play man on D.

He will need to put on some weight before he gets to UF. A 160 pound WR would get broken into pieces in the SEC but I am sure he knows that. Gotta love the speed though. Nice pickup.

Brown is close to 160 but I think Prothro is up close to 175 or so.
As far as our new player. I don't think this kid will be playing on offense. I believe he'll be a CB at UF. He should be able to add 15 to 20 lbs. once he gets on a good weight program.
