We just signed Snead, and still have the #1 slot for Tebow and Justin Williams thus far. Staying realistic, but things r looking great right now.....

Snead had offers from Texas, aTm, OU, and Okie State; #2 QB in TX behind Stafford according to Crabtree....looks like he'll place out at a high 4-star in rivals, maybe a 5-star.

Ditto that chief. :D That's exactly what I was thinking....

Congrats though GN...with the quality of schools you listed that were also going after this guy, he almost certainly has to be as good as advertised. UF won't be hurting at QB for awhile, it seems. :o

If he's already committed, they'll likeley drop him to a 3 star. It's a tatic they like to use to keep people paying for their info. Keep the undecideds up in the rankings...

I know you're probably not gonna pay any attention to me even though I told ya so with OJ and a few others, but Tebow isn't going to Florida.

Lol...maybe not. But OJ was a grade drop, Neo, lol! At least that's what I heard. Just do me a favor and make sure he catches 7 TD passes against Georgia. Shoving kurtz's face in the SECTalk mud has now cracked my top-100 things to do this year. :D

As for Tebow, yeah....that was my first thought: this early sign will likely push him to Michigan, but Crabtree says there isn't much difference between the two. I know Tebow has HUGE Florida ties with his family, grew up a Gator, Nease uses a similar offensive scheme, etc. Maybe the competition will push him here anyway....and I'm sure at least one would redshirt if they both signed. Let's not forget, too, that baseball will play a factor with Tebow (93mph lefty?? ...yeah). I don't know what his pro prospects look like, exactly, but I like the fact that we're not putting all our eggs into the Tebow basket. If he stays in college, though, he'll likely want to play both sports....and the Gators are doing well in baseball this year, which may prove to be a decisive factor. Also, Meyer already had Snead's verbal before he went to see TT this week....so, it's clear we're not giving up on him. F$U got Lee and Weatherford....so, there's no reason we couldn't get two ourselves.

I also have to trust Meyer because of what he did with Alex Smith. UM must have seen something great in this kid to offer him while we're still courting Tebow. From his videos, he seems to have everything Tebow has: nice height, very good mobility, live and accurate arm, good defensive reads, over 3K yards passing, 35" vertical....AND he's pullin' a 4.0 GPA. Sounds like the prototypical Meyer player. Here are Snead's stats:

2004 STATISTICS
G Att Yds Avg TD PA PC Pct Yds TD Int
11 120 618 5.2 10 304 184 60.5 3,025 29 9

We shall see.

he's a good pickup, but i doubt he'll be a 5 star. There were only 3 5-star QB's last year, but he should be a 4-star. From what I've heard about the kid, he has a lot of talent. Even if you don't get Tebow, this could should produce.

I know absolutely nothing about Tebow. However, if he is in fact a lefty who can throw a baseball 93 mph, I would be very concerned about him ever reaching the college football field. Flame-throwing lefties with any kind of command are a rarity and MLB will throw some big money his way immediately out of high school if he shows the kind of potential that you guys suggest.

Will be an interesting few years once we get Stafford ;) . I'm kidding even though I think we get Stafford. His girlfriend are sister are going to be at Georgia next year (girlfriend already is) and he really likes Coach Richt. His decision is coming in the next 2 months so hopefully he will be a Dawg.

Would you care to elaborate on your reasoning?

Was that part of the recruiting plan. To get his girlfriend and sister to come? That's a good idea as long as he and the girlfriend don't break up....

Yeah...I don't know. That's just what I read....MLB is supposed to be a very real possibility. But I've just learned--through a phone call placed by Mark Wheeler--that Meyer already told the Tebow family that UF was going to sign two QBs in this class. Tim's dad said Meyer told them that months ago and that Snead's verbal does not affect his son's decision in any way.

So, if Leak stays, which he probably will, we would have Leak, Portis, Snead, and Tebow for '06. Dickey will probably be a WR and Ingram a possible TE.

Here's a great article by GatorCountry:

Snead (http://florida.scout.com/2/376891.html)

It's funny....Snead was 10-0 going into the game with Wichita Falls Rider, who beat Snead & Co. by 20+ and was led by David Nelson (a UF WR sign this year) with 256 receiving yards and four TDs. Snead threw for 248 and ran for 118 in the loss.

No I don't think so. Georgia is a popular destination for seniors from Highland Park (Stafford's high school) because Georgia is a lot like Texas except Austin is much bigger than Athens. Stafford's dad got his MBA at Georgia and he tells his son how much he loves Athens. Stafford loves Coach Richt as well. An FSU site was interviewing him and they asked him about FSU and his answer turned into how much he loved Coach Richt. I like our chances.

New news:

Mark talked to EA Elite 11/Nike Camp Player Personnel Director, Brian Stumpf, who told him that Snead was an Elite-11 QB and will work out on June 25th at the last EA Elite 11 camp in Las Vegas.

So, if we sign Snead and Tebow or, assuming he's an Elite-11 invite, Jarred Fayson (yes, UF currently leads for his services as well), that will be TWO Elite-11 QBs.

Fayson is really set on playing QB, though, and I think if we get a verbal from Tebow, we'll lose Fayson. He's going to a school that will give him a serious look at QB....and sitting behind Leak, Portis, Snead, and Tebow is not in his best interest.

It's still very, very early, but if things keep going this well, UF will have a top-3 class, if not the top class, this year. Meyer is relentless.
