Which Sec teams will appear the most on national television during the 2005 football season, including bowl games?

You can vote for more than one team.

I voted Tenn. and South Carolina. Carolina simply because of Spurrier's first year back.

I say UT and LSU, because they're gonna be the two in the SECCG when it's all said and done. Sorry Dawgs...

Well, I have a question first. Are the 3:30 CBS games nationally televised? If so, then we will probably appear on national TV the most because CBS loves us. I know our Boise St. game is being televised by ESPN. I expect our games with USC, UT, UF, Auburn, and possibly Georgia Tech to be televised by CBS at 3:30. I haven't looked at an SEC schedule yet so if there is a big game (or supposed one) the same day as the games previously mentioned, then I may be wrong.CBS does love us though.

yeah, there are some teams where the media just loves to suck their you know what...UGA is definitely one of them...

I think the games on CBS are regional during the day. I'm not sure about games on ABC. ESPN and ESPN2 are both national. I say LSU, cause they will get UT, UF, and AU.

I went with SC, UT,UGA,UF,LSU,and Auburn. SC because Spurrier is coaching there now and we will get a lot more publicity. I mean, hell, even our spring practice game is gonna be nationally televised. UGA could be up there as well, but probably only if they win their 1st games, which could very well happen. UT for obvious reasons, they will probably win the East and people are expecting big things for them this season. UF because Meyer will make his debut in a real conference so a lot of people will be interested in how it turns out. Auburn was an obvious choice after last season. LSU also has a new coach and people will be interested in the direction LSU will be heading with that kind of talent. Plus I couldnt put 4 teams from the East and only 1 from the West.

In a huge attempt ot NOT be a homer, I'm still going to pick USC & UT. USC cuz the networks are obsessed with ratings and people are going to tune in to see Spurrier's return to coaching so long as the Cocks remain competitive & our defense should make us that by itself.

UT just has the luxury of being named among the top teams so until they falter, we'll be seeing them....of course, UF could be on because of the stir Urban Meyer created by jilting ND to go to Gainesville...who knows? My guess is it will come down to whichever team does the best for the longest, period.

USC is gonna be receiving a LOT of attention because of spurrier. just think back to 2003 and shula's first year. espn televised his first game against south florida...and this is spurrier.

I went with:

usc (Spurrier)
Tennesshe (legit contender),
Auburn (lots-o-guilt for stiffing them out of the MNC game last year)
UF (part of it is Meyer, but we get a ton of exposure anyway. A recent study by "Publicity Watch Magazine" named UF one of the nation's top three schools for media exposure. Since 1982, every Gator game but two (280 of 282 games) has been televised (live or tape delayed). More than 84 percent of all games since 1990 have been televised live on network television (148 of 176). Its 99 national TV appearances since 1990 ranks second nationally).

Honorable mention: uga and l-essU

I'm sure all of these games will be televised nationally for UGA:

UGA VS Boise St.(ESPN?)
UGA VS S. Carolina(CBS or ESPN)
UGA @ Tennessee(CBS or ESPN)
UGA Vs. Arkansas(usually is on ESPN when we play the hogs)
UGA Vs. Florida(CBS)
UGA Vs. Auburn(CBS)
UGA Vs. Georgia Tech(ABC/CBS/ESPN)

I think all but Kentucky, Miss. State, and LA-Monroe will be televised on Nat'l TV.

No. The "Featured Game" on CBS is considered National TV. CBS feeds such as Jefferson Pilot Sports is just regional.

Looking at the SEC schedule by the week rather than by the team, it looks like Alabama will have the most, with eight games on national TV. Every conference game for the Tide will either be on CBS, ESPN or espn2. It's all about who they play each week and who everyone else is not playing. With a very attractive schedule, the Tide will play in front of the nation the more than any other team.

LSU, Tennessee and South Carolina will tie each other for seven national TV appearances. South Carolina could have eight if Arkansas has a winning record by the time it plays the Gamecocks. Auburn and Florida will have six. Georgia, surprisingly, will have only five, mainly because of the light schedule. Ole Miss will have a surprising five, while Arkansas will have two.

Kentucky may have three appearances if the Louisville game will be played on Sunday again. They'll also play Indiana and Tennessee in front of the nation. MSU will have one appearance (Alabama) while Vanderbilt will have none.

Remember, CBS will not come into the fold until the third week of the season. CBS will be at the U.S. Open tennis tournament the first two weekends, but ESPN and espn2 usually fill that void during those weeks.

Very informative post. I think LSU might just have these five, for sure:

North Texas (no tv)
Arizona State (tv)
Tennessee (tv)
Mississippi State (no tv)
Vanderbilt (no tv)
Florida (tv)
Auburn (tv)
Appalachian State (no tv)
Alabama (tv)
Ole Miss (maybe)
Arkansas (maybe)

Either way I will have ESPN's Gameplan package again so I will have all kinds of great games to choose from. To anyone who hasnt ordered it before you will easily get your money's worth out of it.

Arkansas-LSU will definitely be on national TV. They play the game on the Friday after Thanksgiving, so CBS will be there.

There may also be a chance that the Arkansas game at USC will be televised. Since they go out to Pac-10 country, the rules are very different. ABC will most likely take Oklahoma-UCLA that day, but there's a chance they may choose to televise a double- or triple header. There are four other games on the menu, so if the Arkansas-USC game were to be televised at all, it could be one of those late 9 CT starts on Fox Sports Net, a network not everybody gets in their homes.

I doubt CBS will be at the Tennessee-South Carolina game. I think they'd rather be at the Georgia-Florida game. They also won't be at Florida-South Carolina, as you have Auburn-Georgia and Alabama-LSU that same day. If the game were in the Swamp or on another day, it'd be different.

It may seem easy to predict who will be on national television, but it really is a very confusing chain of events. Looking at the schedule as a whole, however, makes it a bit easier to understand.

Last year I ordered it early and it cost me $100. They split it up so that its just $50 extra on your cable bill for 2 months. You may have to have Time Warner Cable though, Im not sure. It gives you 6 extra channels and they will show about 2-3 of the games that start at 12 PM and 2-3 of the games that start at 1 PM, depnding on how the schedule is for that day. Then as soon as a game goes off another one come on, so you always have at least 3 extra games at any given time and you usually have 5-6 extras at any given time. Between that, the local channels, and the ESPN channels you'll be in college football heaven, trust me.

Tennessee, USC, and Florida will be the contenders for most national games. I think it will come down to UT and Florida, because those are the two teams in the east who will contend for the SECCG. :D
