What are you talking about? Some Dawg's fan starts a thread about Shockley and your trying to rip USC fan's for commenting? What are these threads for if people aren't allowed to comment on them. You can start a USC QB thread if you want but this one's about Shockley.

Again, would you please look at the thread we are on, and WHO created it? take your UGA blinders off...

UGA has had a pretty impressive run with two solid QB's (Q.Carter, D.Greene) and USC has handed them both some of their worst games. I watched Carter throw five interceptions to us his last year there and arguably the worst game Greene played last year was against the Gamecocks. I know there's the any-given-Saturday effect always there to worry about but even diehard Dawg fans have to admit that DJ Shockley isn't nearly as good as either Carter or Greene.

He better be making very nice with that offensive line and hope they're among the best in the SEC. How's your running game?? Might have to lean on that early and often; resort to Holtz-ball for parts of the season hehe! :D

Why, is that site shady or something? Just wondering because I've never heard of it before.

It doesn't look very reliable, plus a lot of the scouting reports are pretty weak.

DJ is more talented than both Carter and Greene. I never liked Carter to begin with and the only thing Greene has on DJ is experience and leadership.

Our offensive line is considered one of the best in the SEC.

How's our running game? We have the best running game in the SEC with Brown, Ware, Lumpkin, and Shockley.

There won't be any Holtz ball. Shockley can actually throw the ball and has targets to throw to. Leonard Pope, Bailey, McClendon, etc...

Shockley better than Q???

He is only trying to make himself feel better...I was at the USC-UGA game where Q threw 5 INTs...I still have leaves from the hedges that game...

Shockley better than Q???
That's what I'm thinking....of course, I've only seen DJ a handful of times and usually in spot duty. We shall see....I wouldn't be making any bets to that effect if I were a UGA fan though. If Richt is as smart as everyone says he is, he'll be leaning heavy on the running game until he sees exactly how Shockley will respond to having the starting job all to himself. Some guys step up to the challenge right away, some take a few games to get all comfy, some never do.

We shall see....

Many UGA fans were praying that Carter leave early. Shockley is a BETTER talent than Quincy Carter. He's got more speed, a better arm, and is just a better playmaker.

You'd definitely know better than I...how big is DJ? I remember him as lankier (that a word??) than QC but that made him a much better runner...for some reason, my mind always put Shockley and Clem's Son's former QB Dantzler in the same category size & ability-wise. Is that far off in the average Dawg fans' eyes?

Our hedges or thiers? Because the game was in Columbia.

DJ is 6'1 195

Your comparison to Dantzler as a runner is pretty accurate. He has an uncanny ability to escape the rush with his incredible speed and quickness. However, DJ also possesses a very good throwing arm and has great touch down field. Dantzler was purely a runner.

It was definitely our hedges. The fans destroyed them, and I think it cost a lot to replace.

MURDERERS! THOSE PLANTS WERE ALIVE!

I totally disagree with the statement above. Sounds like a lot of "hype" to me.

There aren't a whole lot of people who can run like Woody Dantzler. If Shockley could run like Dantzler he would have started a long time ago.

Okay. Whatever you want to think Neo. Everyone is entitled to opinions. Greene's arm is average at best. Greene has below average speed. Shockley has outstanding speed. Shockley has a good arm. The only thing that Greene has on Shockley at this point is leadership. Given time, Shockley will establish leadership.

Shock runs in the 4.4 forty range and you can't bench a guy with the accolades of what Greene had. 2 years ago, Shock had a chance to transfer to Florida State and be the starter bud decided to wait his turn at UGA.

Greene may not have the strongest arm or be the quickest QB in the world, but he had things that cannot be replaced by Shockley.

#1: Brains. As I have been told, David Greene excelled in the classroom and on the field. You simply cannot coach or teach intelligence. It's a gift.

#2: Leadership. When Greene stepped on the field, he commanded the team's/opponents attention. You cannot coach or learn leadership. That's a talent that only a select few are born with. Let's be honest, not everyone is replaceable no matter how bad you want them to be.

As for Greene's speed, he knew his weaknesses and drew strength from them. He didn't worry about not being fast. He made it count where it should. The scoreboard.

Only time will tell if Shock can provide the leadership. From the early spring reports, he has been a great leader.

You state that intelligence is a gift. Shock is a very intelligent young man being named to the dean's list every semester. While he may not have all the brains Greene had, he makes up with it for athletic ability. Shock has a God-Given talent that a select few have. Excellent speed and a strong-accurate arm.

I truly believe that if Richt would have kept Shock in the rest of the game against Tennessee, we would have won.
