Has anyone else heard the rumor that Arkansas will have to forfeit the baseball games already played due to the Rampant Steroid Usage that has plagued Fayateville?

How bad is the problem? I heard it was only two guys. If it's only two guys that seems a bit extreme to me.

Yea it's not that rampant I just felt like saying that, but the NCAA takes steroid usage very seriously. Proffesional sports are different every one knows they are tainted, but college sports are supposed to remain pure. I think the games should be forfeited as an example to the rest of the players in baseball. Plus I wouldn't mind having 2 more W's on the season.

Amen they should forfeit if those guys were major contributors!

Rampant was certainly the wrong word to use there. Bridges simply took what a doctor prescribed him to recover from an injury this summer. Now to my knowledge, Rowlett knowingly took the juice. I'm sure it's a possibility there could be forefeits. Bridges and Rowlett were were No. 7 and No.1 in the SEC in hitting, respectively; No. 1 and No.2 in the SEC in stolen bases -- the two actually had combined to steal more bases than most SEC teams at one point -- so they were a huge part of the team. I don't think there will be forfeits though b/c only two players were in the wrong and one of them had absolutely no idea he was even doing anything wrong. I think Bridges will be back. Rowlett's dismissal from the team should suffice. But I wouldn't be surprised. We've lost 4 of our last 5 w/out those two, so we're screwed anyway.

And to think that people thought I was full of it when I reported this story.....

Yeah, how did you know Neo? I was covering a game in White Hall, Bridges' hometown, last week and an ump. gave me the low-down on the situation. Also one of my best friends, a former Ark. football player, Bridges' friend and someone who goes down to the Hogs' weight room and works out every day, told me in general that it was da juice. However you found out, good call. I just wish they'd go ahead and make it public so we'll know what's up, but I'm 99.9 percent sure that's the situation.

I told ya....I have sports connections.
I may be a USC fan on a simple message board, but that doesn't mean that I don't know people in very high places. :D

 I think that you all need to be getting all of the facts straight before you start talking smack. Obviously they BOTH wouldn't have appealed and gotten lawyers if they were "knowingly" taking the drugs.

As for my reply to your statement, Jeffery Dahmer got a lawyer and did that automatically mean he was innocent? Getting a lawyer and filing appeals does not mean you aren't guilty.

I agree. The "bad" guy is gone and the other guy really did nothing wrong. Let him play and get on with the season.

Do any of you actually know for a fact that Rowlett knowingly took "juice"?

JJanet,
I have been doing this a long time now. I have a lot of friends in very high places. Granted, I have been wrong a few times, but I'm willing to take the "Pepsi" challenge on the subject of this thread.
The guy was on the "juice". Whether you believe it or not, that's a question only you can answer.

You were with him 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to know this? , or are you basing it on his word?

Denial can be a very powerful thing....the innocent usually come right out with a reasonable explanation (i.e. Bridges) whereas the guilty remain quiet and/or immediately 'lawyer up'. Who knows though...this thread is all I know of this story so Rowlett may have offered a reason for the positive test that I have yet to hear....doesn't sound like it though. Sorry jjanet...

I'm sportswriter and have been covering numerous games in Bridges' hometown of White Hall, and i've heard this from a number of sources. Not all, but a few of these guys I consider very reliable. If the two didn't fail a test it would've been reported in the news a long time ago and everybody involved with the Razorback program would be raising hell. I haven't heard a word. The Dem-Gaz has reported nothing on it. I'm gonng stick with my statement and say Rowlett's outty 5000 forever, and Bridges will be back after a lenghty appeal process with the NCAA.

Yes, I am going by what heard from reliable sources, but there is no difference in me going from what I have heard and defending him then you going by what you have heard and condemning him.

There is a difference....
I have earned quite a reputation here for bringing the news before it happens. That I know of, I have been wrong twice. Yeah...2 times and that's it.
See...I can back up my whispers....Can you?

I believe that they both took them but that only Rowlett knowingly took them....Its a shame that Bridges is gonna have this on his record....expressly or impliedly for the rest of his career if he really was just prescribed them by his m.d....how many of us really inquire about the drugs we are prescribed by our family doctor? I'm assuming the SEC is making it his duty to know...but a suspension should be enough.
