I saw it mentioned in the 9/11 thread, so I thought I'd start a new thread for the topic. My personal thought is that if John McCain (R) were to run against Wesley Clark (D) it would be a "no lose" race for America. I think Hilary is just too controversial to get the Democratic nomination and I'd love to see a 4-Star General, whose a fiscal conservative and civil libertarian get the DEM nomination. Unfortunately, the Primary system made is set up that early wins are mandatory and his campaign ran out of $$ last year. Likewise if the Republicans could put an honest man like McCain on the ticket, it would be a step in the right direction. Just keep Karl Rove away!!!!!! Thoughts?

the only problem is to win the dem primary you have to step way left and to win the pubbie primary you have to step way right

more so on the Republican side. W was backed by Saudi money, evangelicals, and big business. McCain isn't that kind of politician. If the democrats went w/ a true liberal, then Kucinich or Howard Dean or even Hilary would have been their guy or gal. Democrats have to play to the center more b/c Americans are generally more conservative.

I would like to see Condaleza run in 08'. But she would just be called an uncle tom and a traitor to her ethnicity. That seems to be the DEM track record for the past 30 years. Anytime a black man or woman pulls themselves up by their boot straps and makes something of themselves, but happens to be a republican, they are tarred and feathered by the Dems and tries to tear them down.

and Clinton was backed by Chinese money, immorality, and big business....
and your advice to "play more to the center" is EXACTLY whats wrong with BOTH major parties - they play. Very few politicians state what they believe and vote accordingly regardless of the political winds. As a conservative, I have more respect for a liberal that stands up for what he believes and sticks with it, than someone who says they are liberal or conservative and then goes with what benefits their careers best.

John McCain is a political whore.
Much less so than most politicians. He's the only Republican w/ enough backbone to stand up against W's piss poor policies. And Condoleeza is a lying *****. The only member of the current administration I respected was Powell. But his presentation about the centrifuges blew his respectability right out of the water.

I was hoping that Clark would've won the Dem. primary because he was my favorite out of all of the candidates. I dont think Hillary will make it through the primaries unless the Democrats want to lose again. If they couldnt get a liberal man into office they surely wont get a woman in there. As far as ole Condi is concerned I could care less if people call her an Uncle Tom or whatever, look at her track record. It is absolutely horrible. The way things are going I think we need to worry more about just getting through the next 4 years then we do about who we'll vote for. But it is an interesting thread so it'll be good to come on here and see how things develop.
