The buzzards are circling, pun intended, around Coach Peterson. While I have long questioned Buzz, let me give him some credit. Faced with a tough draw and a less than glowing endorsement from his A.D, Buzz brought the Vols to Atlanta ready to play. Sure, UT was a huge underdog to win a mere game, but they showed up anyway. I predicted Arkansas to easliy beat the Vols in the first round. Uh, I was wrong! Early in the second half of said game I began my "Kentucky will crush UT" speech. Tubby's cats did indeed post a win against Buzz's vols but it was anything but a blowout. UT showed up and played hard, which is a testament to their coach. Knoxville may not be the place of his legacy but Buzz Peterson will find sucess down the road. RTR

I am amazed at the compliments a team will get for "getting up" when "their backs are against the wall." Why not perform November through March? UT has talent, they have no heart and I think that starts with the coach. If Buzz stays, I hope he proves me wrong. I am TN fan. I just don't see it happening with Buzz. You have got to have the "gift" to coach at that level.

When you watch the Cats play, you can see how mentally tough they are. Tubby demands it. That glare he gives when they make a stupid or lazy play is intense. As a result, his team hustles more than anyone else. They play defense as if every possession is a life-or-death situation. They are tenacious on the boards. All because their coach will accept no less.
I realize that they have more talent than we do. They have as much tradition as anyone. But, our players should care about the game the way their players do. If I were Buzz, my team would spend as much time watching tape of the Cats as they do their own tape. Maybe, watching a team that always leaves everything on the court will somehow rub off on them. Anyway, that probably just wishful thinking. Buzz is just too nice to get these guys fired up on a consistent basis.
