Various accounts have the defense running roughshod over the offense but this was to be expected. Croyle is being held out of contact, Darby is on the mend, the ol is undergoing a rebuilding, and the defense is very good. Anthony Madison is attending to class obligations and is only practicing on Saturdays and Sundays. Simeon Castille is manning his cb spot with Eric Gray shining as the backup and the nickel back. The coaches are installing the 3-4 and using the 3-3-5 a lot. This was started towards the end of last year. The new looks will take advantage af a excellent lb and secondary group, while more depth is built on the defensive front. JPW and Marc Gullion have looked sharp so far at qb especially considering the non-existant running game. The real battles for starting jobs is in the kicking game. Coach U. has his work cut for him.

A little update that I omitted.

Rashad Johnson a freshman running back who is Bobby Humphry all over again! He's 6'1" and about 185lbs, has amazingly quick feet and a true BURST of speed. He took Aaron John's job early and kept it in this past weekends scrimmage! I look for him to be closer to 200 lbs by this fall and he will likely be in the mix! He's a special player you should watch during A-Day. He is #20 and you will be hard pressed to miss this kid! He ran a 35 or 40 yard touchdown and was hit 3 or 4 times and then outran the DB's to the corner!

Well, heres a good way to look at it as far as Tide fans are concerned. If you have an unexperienced O-Line and need to get them up to speed fast you guys have a good defense to do it. Practicing against that defense could speed up the development of the offense a good bit.

That's an excellent point cocky. There's not too many defenses, if any, in the SEC that I'd rather have my inexperienced O-line going up against on a daily basis than Alabama's defense.

Look for Justin Moon, 6-6,300 to be the primary backup at both the tackle and guard spots. He ahs experience at both spots and has the size. I suspect BJ Stabler will win the right guard spot.

Who's gonna be the QB....Is Croyle's knee better? Did he get a medical redshirt?

Croyle is participating in spring drills, but not 11 on 11. He has been medically cleared to go this spring, but they are holding him out as a precaution. It is giving the backups good experience this spring.

John Parker Wilson is looking good, Prothro had a big game today. The offense is starting to hold its own against the "D". RTR

Our offensive game plan should be simple - get the ball to Prothro and Ezekiel Knight. They are big time playmakers.

As far as I've heard, his rehab has gone very well over the past year and he should be back to 100% by fall practices. The question on my mind is how will his game be affected missing out on all of these spring practices?

As for the medical redshirt, he didn't need one to be eligible this year, as this is his senior year. As for the 2006 season (if he wanted to play), I don't think he's eligible for a medical redshirt. I haven't heard anything on this officially, but by the books he was about 1/2 game over the cutoff for one. I don't really care anyhow. He is definitely a good QB, but we need to start looking past him and get someone prepared to fill his shoes in 2006 (or this year if he is injured again).

There is no redshirt for Brodie.
