lol, I've been leading that crusade for a while now. But even I"ve said I would give him another year to be fair. But after the Florida game, If i was MCgee It would of been difficult not to fire him on the spot and shut down the b-ball program for good. My problem with Odom is coming from Wake I figured he would of been able to recruit well, being recognized as a succsessful coach. He was unable to produce when he first took the job, and after 4 years of being a coach of a mediocre basketball team, how well do you think recruits recognize him now.

How many really good players did he recruit at Wake? Was Odom really ever that great a recruiter to begin with?
I dunno...to me, it seems like our basketball program never really seemed to recover from Bobby Cremins turning his back on us at the 11th hour the way he did. I'm not saying that's the reason we've been so average-at-best....but it does seem to be the point in time where we stopped having that one special player to lead the team. We've won on guts with Odom, not talent....and talent alone just flat out wins more games than guts alone.

What he had going for him at Wake was, if you were a smart basketball player you either went to Duke or Wake, the academics are highly regarded and you have a chance to play in the best conference with other smart players. And a lot of those recruits fell in his arms. Now Odom was good at managing his players and managing the game, and he did a good job with those players. The question is can he bring in the same recruits he did at Wake, If he can't, any other discussion about him is pointless.

I was not wanting to jump on this bandwagon earlier, and i am still not certain, but losing a 17 point lead in the second half is unbelievable. What was it 9:00 without a field goal?!?!?!

i have learned to just look past basketball//most everytime i see the cocks play, i see 5 minutes of good, on some occasions, incredible play. It almost looks like we know what we are doing...then there is 35 minutes of crap...we look like we should be on nyc playground in a pick up game..how about the gosh awful 5-10 minute run with no points..usc is not ever going to be a basketball school..we NEVER get the good big man..we have been looking for a good big man since the inception of the program...when we get someone high profile, they dont seem to pan..the one really good team of late, and we did get beat in the first round against ur, was the mckie team..he chose us because we wanted his family to watch...we had larry davis because he couldnt get the pt at nc..a blind squirrel will get a nut occasionally...we are a baseball, soccer, track, tennis, diving and football school..When i say football, i mean we really support our football team, and pray we will get over the hump..i know we can..we compete well overall in the sec..fb and bb are just so much in the light

Just a question for any who have an opinion: Who would make the ideal candidate for South Carolina basketball head coach if we were to indeed be rid of Dave Odom?
For the sake of discussion, of course.... :)

There! I said it! :D
I have to agree. Odom simply isn't getting the job done. He is the equivilant of Lou Holtz in the college basketball world. We have a nice, big new arena which we cannot fill because the program stinks. Odom cannot recruit and if you look at his overall winning percentage throughout his career, it is just above 50%.

I Knew That Marshall Was An Assistant Under Kresse. I Heard An Interview With Marshall Back In Feb. On The Radio. They Asked Him If He Thought Kresse Would Come Out Of Retirement If The Right Job Become Avaliable. He Said That He Felt And I Quote"he Woulde Definitely Consider It." That Is The Reason I Mentioned His Name. It Would Be Kinda Nice To Have Our Own Coach K.

I Think If He Does It Will Be Up North Where He Has Roots. His Kids Are Getting Ready To Graduate High School. I Think He Has Been In The Usc Mix Before And Shyed Away But Marshall Is An Excellent Choice. He Has Had The Best Team In The State For The Last Four Years.

CANT DISAGREE WITH YOU THERE. I WATCHED WINTHROP SATURDAY AND THEY VERY AGGRESSIVELY ON DEFENSE. THEY MOVE THROUGH SCREENS REAL WELL. THAT IS A SIGN OF GOOD COACHING. I WOULOD DEFINITELY LIKE TO SEE MARSHALL HIRED. BUT I THINK ODOM NEEDS ONE MORE YEAR. HE HAS TOOK CAROLINA TO THE POSTSEASON EVERY YEAR EXCEPT HIS FIRST. I GUESS ITS HARD TO MAKE CHICKEN SALAD OUT OF CHICKEN S#!T.
